Hands-on skills for Agniveers after four years of service: courses, jobs and self-employment
Electrical work is about fitting, testing and repairing the wires and machines that carry power. An electrician fits wires, switches and distribution boards in homes, shops and factories. They also check motors, fans, inverters and transformers, which are machines that raise or lower voltage. A lineman does similar work outside, on poles and in sub-stations.
Because electric current can badly hurt a person, good training always begins with safe working habits. This page covers the jobs, the official courses and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to move into this field after service.
For example, at 6 hours a day, 600 hours is about 100 days of training.
This field suits people who enjoy practical work with their hands. You should be able to read a simple drawing and do basic sums. For the main course on this page, the official file asks for a 10th pass certificate, and people who already hold an earlier skill certificate on the same national scale can also join.
The file gives no rule on height, weight or eyesight, so what follows is plain advice and not an official rule. You need steady hands and good eyesight. Linemen climb poles, so you should feel at ease at a height, and because wires are colour coded, you should tell your trainer if you cannot tell colours apart.
Some jobs need more than a 10th pass. For example, the official page for the Junior Engineer course in Power Distribution asks for a 12th pass, or a 3-year diploma plus 1.5 years of work.
Yes, any Agniveer can. When you leave service you do not carry a trade with you, so nobody starts from a different place, and the branch you served in does not decide whether you can join. The main course on this page asks only for a 10th pass certificate, and that is the rule that counts.
Some Agniveers worked with technical equipment during service, and they may find the first weeks easier because tools, manuals and safety rules are already familiar to them. That is a small head start, not a condition. If you served in a duty or field role, you can still learn this work. You may need to put in more effort at the start, but you already have discipline, teamwork and the habit of hard physical work, which help in any wiring job.
Choose the course first, and then read its entry rule on the official page before you pay any fee.
There are four main types of work in this field. Tap any one to read more.
This person fits and repairs wires, switches, fans, lights and distribution boards in homes and shops. The official Assistant Electrician file gives 180 hours to home and factory wiring, which is the biggest part of that course.
This person tests and repairs motors and transformers in workshops and factories. The Assistant Electrician file includes parts on transformer testing, power equipment testing and the repair of electrical machines.
LT means low voltage and HT means high voltage. A lineman fixes and repairs power lines, both overhead and underground. The Directorate General of Training (DGT), the government body that runs ITI training, lists a Lineman trade under its apprenticeship scheme, and its course papers give 8th class as the entry level. Because a lineman may work on lines that carry current, strict safety training is part of the job.
This person looks after the equipment inside and outside a power sub-station, which is the place where high voltage is stepped down before it goes to towns and villages. The Power Sector Skill Council has an official file for this role, called Attendant Sub Station.
Every figure in the table below comes from the official page linked in the last column. These pages are on the National Qualifications Register (NQR), which is the government's official list of courses.
| Course | Skill level | Total hours | Who can join | Official page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Assistant Electrician (Domestic cum Industrial) | Level 3 | 600 (theory 200, practical 340, on the job 60) | 10th pass; or an earlier skill certificate on the same scale, with 3 years of work or none, as the file lists | Open on NQR |
To find this course yourself, search for the code QG-03-PW-02422-2024-V1-MSME. The skill level follows a national scale called NSQF, which runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work.
Fees, batches and how to apply: we do not list fees or dates here, because they differ from one training centre to another and change often. The official links below show the course name, the entry rule and who gives the certificate.
What you study: the course has seven parts, and the hours for each are: basic electricity (60); measuring voltage, current and power (90); wiring for homes and factories (180); testing and care of transformers (90); testing and care of power equipment (90); repair of electrical machines (60); and job-readiness skills such as speaking well and getting ready for work (30).
Another course: the Power Sector Skill Council offers Junior Engineer – Power Distribution. Its NQR page lists a 12th pass with no work experience as one way in, and also a 3-year diploma after 10th with 1.5 years of work. You can see the page at nqr.gov.in.
Valid dates: the Assistant Electrician file was first approved on 30 April 2024 and is valid till 30 April 2027, so please check the latest file before you join.
The Assistant Electrician course is a Level 3 course on the National Qualifications Register. The certificate comes from the MSME Technology Centre, which is under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, so it is given by a government body and not by a private shop.
The official file says that a learner who passes can work as an Assistant Electrician and can also start an electrical workshop. Of the 600 hours, 340 are practical work and 60 are on the job, so you spend more time with tools and meters than with books.
For you as an Agniveer: the Government of India Cabinet release of 2022 says that after four years an Agniveer is paid a one-time Seva Nidhi package, and that this package is free of income tax. The same release says that the skills an Agniveer gains are recorded in a certificate that forms part of the resume. The Seva Nidhi may help you pay for a course like this one. The course file does not mention any credit for Agniveer service, so please ask the training centre in writing. You can read the release at pmindia.gov.in.
The file also names what comes next. The next job is Electrician, and the next course is Electrical Equipment Repair and Maintenance at Level 4, so you can see where to go after the first course.
The official file shows this path for the main course.
The official Assistant Electrician file says that a person who passes can start an electrical workshop. Many people begin with house wiring and repair jobs in their own area, and later open a small shop that repairs fans, motors and inverters.
Loan schemes such as PMEGP and MUDRA exist for small businesses, but please read the scheme rules or ask a bank whether you qualify before you plan around a loan. For loans and training in general, see our Self-Employment and Loans card and our Free Govt Training card.
Use only official places. These include centres listed on Skill India Digital, training partners linked to NSDC, and the Power Sector Skill Council. A government ITI (Industrial Training Institute) runs an Electrician trade, and the MSME Technology Centres can tell you about the Assistant Electrician course.
For fees, batches and how to apply, please use the official links in the Courses section above. Before you join, ask the centre for a written fee list, and also ask who will give the certificate.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
The official file asks for a 10th pass certificate, or an earlier skill certificate on the same scale. It does not name Agniveer service as a condition, so if you have a 10th pass certificate you may be able to apply. Please confirm the exact rules with the training centre before you pay.
No. The official file asks for a 10th pass certificate, and your branch in service is not an entry rule. If you worked with technical equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
The file counts 600 hours of total learning time, made up of 200 hours of theory, 340 hours of practical work and 60 hours on the job. The number of days depends on how many hours the centre runs each day, so please ask the centre before you join.
You learn basic electricity, how to measure voltage and current, wiring for homes and factories, testing of transformers and power equipment, and repair of electrical machines, along with job-readiness skills. Wiring is the longest part at 180 hours, so most of your time goes into wiring practice.
The Directorate General of Training course papers for the Lineman trade give 8th class as the entry level. Other lineman courses may ask for more, so please read the entry rule of the exact course you choose, because the rules differ from one course to another.
An electrician mostly works inside buildings, on wiring, boards, fans and machines, while a lineman works on the power lines and poles that bring current to those buildings. Both jobs need safety training, and many people start as an assistant electrician and later choose a more special role.
The NQR page shows that the Assistant Electrician file is valid till 30 April 2027. After that date the file may be renewed or changed, so please check nqr.gov.in for the latest version before you join and keep a copy of the page you used.
Courses in India are ranked on a national scale called NSQF, which goes from level 1 to level 10. Level 3 is an early level, meant for people who are starting a trade, and the Level 4 course that comes next asks for more skill and more care on the job.
Search nqr.gov.in for the course name or the code QG-03-PW-02422-2024-V1-MSME. The page shows who can join, the hours and who gives the certificate, and you can open the full course file from the link on that page.

Solar work means fitting and caring for panels that make power from sunlight. A solar installer checks the site, fixes the panels, joins the wires and tests the system. Then the installer starts the system and hands it over to the customer. A small solar plant on a roof is the most common job.
EV work means servicing electric vehicles. EV is short for electric vehicle. It runs on a battery and an electric motor, not on petrol or diesel. An EV service technician does routine service, minor repairs and checks. Voltage is the push that moves current through a wire. An EV battery works at high voltage, and solar panels make direct current, called DC. Both can hurt or kill, so safe habits come first in this field.
This page shows the jobs, the official courses and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to join this field after service.
For example, at 6 hours a day, 420 hours is about 70 days of training.
This field suits people who like practical work and take care over details. You should be able to read a simple drawing and do basic sums. The official solar file asks a learner to do simple sums on power and energy and to read wiring diagrams.
For the main solar course, the official file lists a 12th pass with Science as the first way in. Other ways in need a 10th pass. You would also need two years of a trade course, or three years of work in the solar or power field. The trade courses are NTC, NAC and CITS. These are trade certificates from the ITI system. The minimum age is 18 for the main solar course and for the EV course. The council's list gives 16 for the Electrical solar course.
The files give no rule on height, weight or eyesight. This is plain advice, not an official rule. Panels are fixed on roofs, so you should be at ease at a height. Good eyesight and steady hands help when you read meters. Wires are colour coded, so tell your trainer if you cannot tell colours apart.
Some jobs need more than a 12th pass. The Level 5 junior engineer courses on this page ask for more. They ask for a diploma, or a 12th pass with one year of a trade course, among other ways in.
Yes, any Agniveer can. When you leave service you do not carry a trade with you, so nobody starts from a different place, and the branch you served in does not decide whether you can join. What decides it is the entry rule of the course you choose, which is shown on its official page.
Some Agniveers worked with technical equipment during service, and they may find the first weeks easier because tools, manuals and safety rules are already familiar to them. That is a small head start, not a condition. If you served in a duty or field role, you can still learn this work. You may need to put in more effort at the start, but you already have discipline, teamwork and the habit of hard physical work.
Choose the course first, and then read its entry rule on the official page before you pay any fee.
There are five types of work here. Tap any one to read more.
PV means photovoltaic, the kind of panel that turns sunlight into electric current. The official file says this person checks, installs, tests and commissions the parts of a solar system. To commission means to start the system after tests are done. The file covers rooftop work, such as fixing the mounting frame and the panels, and electrical work, such as DC wiring and earthing.
The council also lists a Rooftop Solar Grid Junior Engineer course and a Solar Water Pumping Junior Engineer course. Both are Level 5. They ask for more than a 10th pass. Examples are a diploma, or a 12th pass with a year of a trade course. So they are a later step.
The official file says this person repairs, services and maintains electric and hybrid vehicles, and helps the lead technician find faults. The course has four choices: four wheeler, two wheeler, three wheeler, and bus or heavy commercial vehicle. The file has a full part on high voltage and fire safety.
The council's list shows a course called EV Charging Installation Technician at Level 4.5. The list marks it as under approval and gives no NQR code. So this page does not show it as an approved course yet.
The Suryamitra file has a part on caring for a solar system. It covers cleaning panels, checking loose connections, finding faulty panels and reading data from the monitoring unit. This work can be done after installation, as a service job.
Every figure in the table comes from the official file linked in the last column. The codes below can be searched on the National Qualifications Register (NQR), the government's official list of courses. The skill level scale is called NSQF. It runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work.
| Course | Skill level | Total hours | Who can join | Official page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solar PV Installer (Suryamitra) | Level 4 | 420 (theory 210, practical 150, on the job 60) | 12th pass with Science; or 10th pass with 3 years of work in solar or power; or 10th pass with 2 years of NTC, NAC or CITS; or an earlier Level 3.5 certificate (Solar PV Site Survey Assistant); or a Level 3 certificate (Assistant Technician, Solar Panel Installation) with 3 years of work | Open the course file |
| Solar PV Installer - Electrical | Level 4 | 390 | 12th pass with Science; or 10th pass with 3 years of work in solar or power; or 10th pass with 2 years of NTC, NAC or CITS; or a Level 3.5 certificate with 1.5 years of work | Open the council list |
| Electric Vehicle Service Technician | Level 4 | The file I opened gives 24 credits and no hours figure | 12th pass; or 10th pass with a 2-year NTC (NAC); or 10th pass with 3 years of work; or a Level 3 certificate (Two Wheeler or Four Wheeler Service Assistant) with 3 years of work; or 11th class (pursuing) with 1.5 years of work | Open the course file |
| Rooftop Solar Grid Junior Engineer | Level 5 | 540 | 4-year degree or diploma in Electrical or Electronics; or 12th pass with 1 year of NTC or NAC; or 10th pass with a 3-year diploma in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical; or a Level 4.5 certificate | Open the council list |
| Solar Water Pumping Junior Engineer | Level 5 | 540 | Diploma in Electrical or Electronics; or 12th pass with 1 year of NTC or NAC and 1.5 years of work; or a 3-year diploma after 10th with 1.5 years of work; or a Level 4.5 certificate with 1.5 years of work | Open the council list |
How to find these courses on the NQR: open nqr.gov.in and type the course name or its code in the search box. The page that opens shows who can join, the hours and the valid dates. Use the code, because it picks the exact version of the course. These are the codes:
Fees, batches and how to apply: we do not list fees or dates, because they differ by training centre and change often. Please use the official links below. They show the course name, the entry rule and the details of each course.
What you study: the Suryamitra course has nine parts. Site survey for a solar system. Buying the right parts. Fitting the frames and panels. Fitting the electrical parts, such as the inverter, cables and earthing. Testing and starting the system. Care and repair of the system. Health and safety at the site. Handing over to the customer. Job-readiness skills, such as speaking well and getting ready for work (60 hours). The files for the other courses give credits for each part and not hours, so this page does not add them up.
Another course: the council also lists a Solar Photovoltaic Technician course, but its list shows a valid date of 31 August 2026. That date has passed, so it is not shown in the table. Please check the NQR for a newer version.
Valid dates: the council's list shows that the Suryamitra and Electrical files are valid till 30 May 2027. The two Level 5 files are valid till 29 May 2027. The EV file was approved on 18 February 2025 and its next review is on 18 February 2028. Please check the latest file before you join.
The Suryamitra course is a Level 4 course on the National Qualifications Register. The file is owned by the Skill Council for Green Jobs. The files I read do not say who signs the certificate for each centre. The NQR page for the course lists the bodies that can give the certificate, so please read that list before you join.
The EV Service Technician file is owned by the Automotive Skills Development Council. The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India holds a permission to use it from 9 December 2025 to 18 February 2028. That council's copy says it does the assessment and gives the certificate under its own name. So the name on your certificate may depend on the centre you choose.
The Suryamitra file says a learner who passes can check, install, test and start different parts of a solar system. The EV file says a learner who passes can service and repair electric and hybrid vehicles and help the lead technician find faults. Both files set a pass mark of 70 per cent overall. Part of the course is done on the job, so you spend more time with tools and meters than with books.
For you as an Agniveer: a Government of India Cabinet release of 2022 says an Agniveer is paid a one-time Seva Nidhi package on completing four years. The release says this package is free of income tax. It also says the skills an Agniveer gains are recorded in a certificate that forms part of the resume. The Seva Nidhi may help you pay for a course like these. The course files do not mention any credit for Agniveer service, so please ask the training centre in writing. You can read the release at pmindia.gov.in.
The files do not show one fixed ladder from the main course. The steps below use what the files say about entry rules.
The Suryamitra file lists work with customers, such as reading the electricity bill, sizing the system and handing over the papers. It also lists emerging jobs and own-business chances in its first part. Many people may start with small rooftop work in their own area, or with cleaning and care visits for solar plants.
The council's list also shows a Solar Photovoltaic Entrepreneur course, but the list marks it as under approval. So this page does not show it as an approved course.
Loan schemes such as PMEGP and MUDRA exist for small businesses in general. Please read the scheme rules or ask a bank to learn if you qualify, before you plan around a loan.
For loans and training in general, see our Self-Employment and Loans card and our Free Govt Training card.
Use only official places. These include centres listed on Skill India Digital and training partners linked to NSDC. For solar courses, ask the Skill Council for Green Jobs. For EV courses, ask the Automotive Skills Development Council. A government ITI (Industrial Training Institute) may also run electrical and vehicle trades.
For fees, batches and how to apply, please use the official links in the Courses section above. Before you join, ask the centre for a written fee list. Also ask who will give the certificate.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
The file lists several ways in. The simplest is a 12th pass with Science. Other ways need a 10th pass plus a trade course or work in the solar or power field. The file does not name Agniveer service as a condition. Please check your own papers against the file, and confirm the rule in writing with the training centre.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
The file counts 420 hours of total learning time. This has 210 hours of theory, 150 hours of practical work and 60 hours on the job. The number of days depends on how many hours the centre runs each day. At 6 hours a day it is about 70 days. Please ask the centre before you join.
You learn how to survey a site, check the parts, fit the frames and panels, and do the wiring and earthing. You also learn to test and start the system, care for it, work safely and hand it over to the customer. The file also has 60 hours of job-readiness skills.
Yes. The Electric Vehicle Service Technician course is Level 4. The file asks for a 12th pass, among other ways in, and a minimum age of 18. You choose four wheeler, two wheeler, three wheeler, or bus and heavy vehicle. The file has a full part on high voltage and fire safety.
The council list I read shows EV Charging Installation Technician as under approval, with no NQR code yet. So it is not shown as an approved course here. Please search the NQR for a newer file. Do not pay a centre that sells a course as official unless you can find its code.
Courses in India are ranked on a national scale called NSQF. It goes from level 1 to level 10. Level 4 is an early skill level, meant for people who work with some guidance. The Level 5 courses on this page ask for more study or more work before you join, so they come later.
The council list shows that the Suryamitra and Electrical solar files are valid till 30 May 2027. The EV file was approved on 18 February 2025, and its next review date is 18 February 2028. After these dates a file may be renewed or changed, so please check the NQR for the latest version before you join.
Search the NQR for the course name or for one of the codes given in the Courses section. The page shows who can join, the hours and the certificate details. You can also open the council files linked on this page. Keep a copy of the page you used when you join a centre.

Refrigeration and air conditioning work means fitting, servicing and repairing machines that make air or goods cold. This covers home fridges, window and split air conditioners, deep freezers, water coolers, cold rooms and large central air conditioning plants. A technician checks wiring, tests parts, finds faults and fixes them.
A refrigerant is the gas inside these machines that carries heat away. A compressor is the part that pumps this gas round. Brazing means joining copper pipes with a hot flame. A leak in the gas pipes is one of the common faults a technician looks for. The work needs care with electricity, gas cylinders and flames, so safe habits come first in good training.
This page shows the jobs, the official courses and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to join this field after service.
For example, at 6 hours a day, 600 hours is about 100 days of training.
This field suits people who like practical work with tools and who take care over details. You should be able to read a simple drawing, do basic sums and follow a written step list. A technician also meets customers, so polite speech matters.
The entry rule depends on the course. For the Field Technician – Air Conditioner course, the NQR page lists a 12th pass with no work experience as one way in. The other ways need a 10th or 8th pass plus four years of work and a trade certificate. Another way is a Level 3 certificate plus two years of work. The trade certificates are NTC and NAC. NTC is the National Trade Certificate from the ITI system. NAC is the National Apprenticeship Certificate.
For the two-year ITI trade, the official file asks for a 10th pass with Science and Mathematics, or a vocational subject in the same field. The minimum age is 14 on the first day of the session. The file gives no upper age.
The files give no rule on height, weight or eyesight. This is plain advice, not an official rule. The ITI file includes working at height with safety gear, handling gas cylinders and using a brazing flame. So you should be at ease at a height and around hot work. Wires are colour coded, so tell your trainer if you cannot tell colours apart.
Some courses need more than a 12th pass. The Level 5 course on this page asks for a diploma or a degree year, and work experience. It is a later step.
There are four types of work here. Tap any one to read more.
The official files say this person visits the customer, picks a suitable place for the indoor and outdoor units, drills holes and mounts the units. The units are joined with copper pipes and cables. Then the technician tests the machine. When the machine fails, the technician checks the power supply, finds the faulty part and repairs or replaces it. For bigger faults, the part goes to the service centre.
The ITI trade file covers servicing of home fridges, deep freezers, water coolers, bottle coolers, ice plants, walk-in coolers and cold storage. It also covers preventive maintenance, which means regular checks to stop faults before they happen. The Level 5 file covers fridge installation and repair for customers.
No separate official course with this job title was found. The second year of the ITI trade file covers servicing of chillers, cooling towers, water treatment plants and air handling units. It also asks the learner to keep a daily log of plant readings.
HVAC means the systems that cool and move air in large buildings. No separate official course for a supervisor was found. The ITI trade file lists Senior RAC Technician, then Supervisor, then Manager as later steps. So a supervisor job usually follows years of work.
Every figure in the table comes from the official page or file linked in the last column. The National Qualifications Register (NQR) is the government's official list of courses. The skill level scale is called NSQF. It runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work.
| Course | Skill level | Total hours | Who can join | Official page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Field Technician – Air Conditioner | Level 4 | 600 (theory 156, practical 234, job-readiness 60, on the job 150) | 12th pass with no experience; or 10th or 8th pass with 4 years of work and NTC or NAC; or a Level 3 certificate with 2 years of work | Open on NQR |
| Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician (ITI trade, two years) | Level 4 | 2,400, plus 300 on the job or group project | 10th pass with Science and Mathematics, or a vocational subject in the same field; minimum age 14 | Open the course file |
| Sr. Technician RACW (Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Washing Machine) | Level 5 | The file gives 21 credits and no hours figure | Second year of a degree or diploma in Physics, Electronics, Electrical or Mechanical with 1.5 years of work; or a 3-year diploma after 10th with 3 years of work; or a Level 4.5 certificate with 1.5 years of work; minimum age 18 | Open the course file |
What you study in the Field Technician – Air Conditioner course: the course has six parts. The role and duties of a field technician (30 hours). Dealing with customers for service (225 hours). Installing and repairing air conditioners (225 hours). Working well at the workplace (30 hours). Health and safety at work (30 hours). Job-readiness skills, such as speaking well and getting ready for work (60 hours).
What you study in the ITI trade: in the first year you learn safety, fitting, sheet metal work, wiring and motors. You also learn basic electronics, gas welding, brazing and copper pipe work. Then come fridges, compressors, and window, split and car air conditioners. In the second year you learn commercial compressors, cooling towers, water treatment, chillers, ice plants and cold storage. You also learn air ducts, package and central air conditioners, and large multi-room systems called VRF or VRV. The year ends with preventive maintenance and a daily log.
Level 5 course parts: the Sr. Technician file gives credits, not hours, so this page does not add them up. The parts are customer dealing (3 credits), fridge work (6), air conditioner work (5.5), washing machine work (4.5) and job-readiness skills (2).
Valid dates: the Level 5 file was approved on 8 May 2025 and its next review date is 30 April 2028. The ITI trade file was approved on 25 August 2022, and the file plans a review after three years. This page did not open a valid-till date for it. Please check the latest file before you join.
The NQR page for the Field Technician – Air Conditioner course names the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India as the body that awards the course. The same council is named as the certifying body. The ITI trade ends with the National Trade Certificate. The Controller of Examinations of the Directorate General of Training runs the exam and issues it, as the file states. The Level 5 file does not say who signs the certificate, so please read its NQR page before you join.
The NQR page says a learner in the air conditioner course provides after-sales service to customers. The learner talks to the customer, finds the cause of the fault, and fixes minor faults or replaces faulty parts. For bigger faults the learner recommends a factory repair. The ITI file says the learner can install air conditioners and fridges and give them power connections. The learner can also repair or replace defective parts, set the cooling and stop leaks.
For you as an Agniveer: the Government of India Cabinet release of 2022 says that on completing four years, an Agniveer is paid a one-time Seva Nidhi package. The package is free of income tax. The same release says the skills an Agniveer gains are recorded in a certificate that forms part of the resume. The Seva Nidhi may help you pay for a course like these. The course files do not mention any credit for Agniveer service, so please ask the training centre in writing. You can read the release at pmindia.gov.in.
The official files show these steps.
The ITI trade file lists Entrepreneur as a step after the Technician and Supervisor levels. Many people may start with AC and fridge service visits in their own area. Later they may open a small shop for repair and parts.
Loan schemes such as PMEGP and MUDRA exist for small businesses in general. Please read the scheme rules or ask a bank to learn if you qualify, before you plan around a loan.

Use only official places. These include centres listed on Skill India Digital and training partners linked to NSDC. For air conditioner courses, ask the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India. For the ITI trade, the file says the Directorate General of Training accredits ITIs, NSTIs, MSTIs and some other centres and industries to run it. So check the centre on the official list.
For fees, batches and how to apply, please use the official links in the Courses section above. Before you join, ask the centre for a written fee list. Also ask who will give the certificate.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
The NQR page lists a 12th pass with no work experience as one way in. Other ways need a 10th or 8th pass with four years of work and a trade certificate. The page does not name Agniveer service as a condition. Please check your papers against the page and confirm the rule with the training centre in writing.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
The NQR page shows 600 hours of total learning time. This includes 156 hours of theory, 234 hours of practical work, 60 hours of job-readiness skills and 150 hours of on-the-job training. At 6 hours a day, 600 hours is about 100 days. The real number of days depends on the centre, so please ask before you join.
You learn the role of a field technician, how to deal with customers, and how to install and repair an air conditioner. You also learn safe work habits and job-readiness skills. The longest parts are customer dealing and air conditioner work, at 225 hours each. Both parts are listed on the NQR page.
It is a two-year trade run by the Directorate General of Training. The file counts 2,400 hours plus 300 hours of on-the-job training or group project. It asks for a 10th pass with Science and Mathematics, or a vocational subject in the same field. The minimum age is 14. The file gives no upper age.
The NQR page shows a valid-till date of 27 June 2025, and that date has passed. A newer version may exist under a different code. Please search the NQR and ask the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India before you pay any fee. Do not join a centre that cannot show you a current code.
No separate official course with these job titles was found. The ITI trade file covers servicing of chillers, cooling towers and air handling units, and keeping a daily log of plant readings. It also lists Senior RAC Technician and Supervisor as later steps. HVAC means the systems that cool and move air in large buildings.
Courses in India are ranked on a national scale called NSQF. It goes from level 1 to level 10. Level 4 is an early skill level, meant for people who work with some guidance. The Level 5 course on this page asks for a diploma or more work experience, so it comes later in your path.
Open nqr.gov.in and search for the course name or the code given in the Courses section. The page shows who can join, the hours and the certificate details. You can also open the files linked on this page. Please keep a copy of the page you used when you talk to a training centre.

Auto repair means servicing and fixing motorcycles, scooters and cars. A technician checks the vehicle, finds the fault and repairs or replaces the part. The official files say the work covers the electrical and mechanical aggregates of the vehicle. An aggregate is a major working unit, such as the engine, the brakes or the wiring set.
Routine servicing is the regular check that keeps a vehicle in good order. A technician also talks to the customer, plans the work and keeps the workshop records. The files say a person in this work should be patient, organised and ready to work long hours in tough conditions.
This page shows the jobs, the official courses and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to join this field after service.
For example, at 6 hours a day, 480 hours is about 80 days of training.
This field suits people who like to work with tools and engines and who keep their patience with a hard fault. You should be able to read a service manual, do basic sums and write a clear job note. The files also say the work is done for long hours, so you should be ready for a busy workshop.
The entry rule depends on the course. For the Two Wheeler Service Technician course, the NQR page lists four ways in. The first is an 11th pass with no work experience. The second is a Level 3 certificate plus two years of work. The third is a 10th pass plus one year of work and an ITI course. The fourth is a 10th pass plus two years of work. The qualification pack sets the minimum age at 18.
For the Four Wheeler Service Technician course, the NQR page lists an 11th pass with one year of work. It also lists a Level 3 certificate with two years of work, or a 10th pass with two years of work. A 10th pass with an ITI course and two years of work is listed too.
The files give no rule on height, weight or eyesight. This is plain advice, not an official rule. Workshop work needs steady hands and good eyesight to read small marks and meters. Wires are colour coded, so tell your trainer if you cannot tell colours apart.
There are six types of work here. Tap any one to read more.
The NQR page says a two-wheeler service technician repairs, services and maintains two-wheelers, including the electrical and mechanical aggregates. The course has parts on organising work and resources and on routine servicing and minor repairs. The qualification file says the learner assists the lead technician in finding faults and does routine service, maintenance, repair and part replacement.
The NQR page says a four-wheeler service technician repairs and services vehicles, including electrical and mechanical aggregates. The course has one part on helping to find faults in a vehicle for repair needs, and one part on routine service and minor repairs.
The ASDC career guide lists Auto Body Repair Assistant and Auto Paint Repair Assistant at Level 3, and Auto Body Repair Welder at Level 4. This page did not open their course files, so it gives no hours or entry rules for them. Please check the ASDC job roles list.
No separate official course with this job title was found. The two-wheeler and four-wheeler technician files both cover electrical aggregates, along with mechanical ones. The EV Service Technician course on this page covers high voltage and fire safety for electric vehicles.
ASDC names an Automotive Service Supervisor course. This page did not open its file, so it gives no details. The two main courses name Lead Technician at Level 5 as the next job, which is a step toward a supervisor role.
The ASDC career guide lists Auto Spare Parts Operations Assistant at Level 3 with an 8th pass. It also lists Auto Spare Parts Operations Lead at Level 5, which asks for a 12th pass and three to five years of work. This page did not open their course files, so it gives no hours for them.
Every figure in the table comes from the official page linked in the last column. The National Qualifications Register (NQR) is the government's official list of courses. The skill level scale is called NSQF. It runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work.
| Course | Skill level | Total hours | Who can join | Official page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Two Wheeler Service Technician | Level 4 | 480 (theory 115, practical 275, job-readiness 60, on the job 30) | 11th pass with no experience; or a Level 3 certificate with 2 years of work; or 10th pass with 1 year of work and ITI; or 10th pass with 2 years of work | Open on NQR |
| Four Wheeler Service Technician | Level 4 | 480 (parts: role 5, organising work 55, job-readiness 60, finding faults 150, routine service 210) | 11th pass with 1 year of work; or a Level 3 certificate with 2 years of work; or 10th pass with 2 years of work; or 10th pass with ITI and 2 years of work | Open on NQR |
| Electric Vehicle Service Technician | Level 4 | 450 | 10th pass with 2 years of NAC or NTC; or 10th pass with 3 years of work; or 11th class (pursuing) with 1.5 years of work; or 12th pass; and one more way using a Level 3 certificate (see the file) | Open the ASDC list |
What you study in the two-wheeler course: the course has four parts. The role of a two-wheeler service technician (5 hours). Organising work and resources in a service workshop (55 hours). Job-readiness skills, such as speaking well and getting ready for work (60 hours). Routine servicing and minor repairs (360 hours).
What you study in the four-wheeler course: the course has five parts. The role of a four-wheeler service technician (5 hours). Organising work and resources (55 hours). Job-readiness skills (60 hours). Helping to find what repair a vehicle needs (150 hours). Routine service and minor repairs (210 hours).
Valid dates: the two-wheeler NQR page was approved on 22 September 2020 and shows a valid-till date of 22 September 2025. This page did not open a valid-till date for the four-wheeler file. Please check the latest file before you join.
The NQR pages for the two-wheeler and four-wheeler courses name the Automotive Skills Development Council as the body that awards the course. The two-wheeler page also names the same council as the certifying body. So the certificate comes from the sector skill council that sets the course.
The two-wheeler page says the learner repairs, services and maintains two-wheelers. The qualification file adds that the learner helps the lead technician find faults and does routine service, maintenance, repair and replacement. The four-wheeler page says the learner repairs and services vehicles, including electrical and mechanical aggregates.
The official pages show these steps.
Many people may start with service and repair work in their own area, or work with a dealer's workshop first. Later they may open a small garage of their own. The course files do not give a business plan, so please talk to local workshop owners before you invest.
For these courses, ask the Automotive Skills Development Council. ASDC lists its affiliated training centres on its website at asdc.org.in. A government ITI (Industrial Training Institute) may also run vehicle trades.
For fees, batches and how to apply, please use the official links in the Courses section above. Before you join, ask the centre for a written fee list. Also ask who will give the certificate.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
The NQR page lists several ways in. One is an 11th pass with no experience. Others need a 10th pass plus one or two years of work, or a Level 3 certificate plus two years. The page does not name Agniveer service as a condition. Please check your papers against the page and confirm with the training centre in writing.

Both are Level 4 courses of 480 hours. The two-wheeler course covers routine servicing and minor repairs on two-wheelers. The four-wheeler course has two main parts, one on finding faults and one on routine service and minor repairs. Each course lists Level 5 Lead Technician as the next step. Choose the vehicle you want to work on.
The ASDC career guide lists Auto Body Repair Assistant and Auto Paint Repair Assistant at Level 3, and Auto Body Repair Welder at Level 4. This page did not open their course files, so it shows no hours or entry rules for them. Please check the ASDC job roles list and the NQR for these courses.
The NQR page shows a valid-till date of 22 September 2025, and that date has passed. A newer version of the course may exist under a different code. Please search the NQR and ask the Automotive Skills Development Council before you pay any fee. Do not join a centre that cannot show you a current code.
The ASDC career guide lists Auto Spare Parts Operations Assistant at Level 3 with an 8th pass. It also lists a Level 5 Lead role that asks for a 12th pass and three to five years of work. ASDC names a service supervisor course too. This page did not open these files, so it shows no details.
Courses in India are ranked on a national scale called NSQF. It goes from level 1 to level 10. Level 4 is an early skill level, meant for people who work with some guidance. The Lead Technician courses at Level 5 ask for more experience, so they come later in your path as a mechanic.

This field is about running and caring for the machines that do farm work. A tractor pulls ploughs, trailers and other tools. A drone is a small flying machine. On a farm, a trained pilot uses a drone to spray crop medicine and plant food over a field. The pilot also looks after the drone itself.
This guide also covers agriculture and allied work, so the jobs and courses below cover both groups.
The official files describe four kinds of work. One is driving and caring for a tractor. Another is repairing farm machines. A third is flying an agriculture drone. The fourth is running a custom hiring centre. A custom hiring centre is a place that rents farm machines to farmers who cannot buy them.
Some words are new for many readers, so here they are in plain terms. A power take-off, or PTO, is the shaft on a tractor that gives power to a tool. A remote pilot certificate is the paper that lets a person fly a drone under the rules of DGCA. DGCA is the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the body that controls flying in India. This page shows the jobs, the official courses and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to join this field after service.
For example, at 6 hours a day, 270 hours is about 45 days of training.
This field suits people who like outdoor work and machines. You will work in sun, dust and weather for long hours. The Tractor Operator file says the person must be fit for outdoor work over long hours and must be able to follow instructions. It also says the person must be able to work alone and solve problems.
The entry rule depends on the course. For the Kisan Drone Operator course, the latest file asks for a 10th pass and a minimum age of 18. An older version of this course on the NQR asked for a 12th pass or several other combinations of schooling and work. The Tractor Operator file asks for a 12th pass. It also lists a 10th pass with a trade certificate, or a 10th pass with two years of related work. It sets a minimum job entry age of 18.
The Repair and Maintenance Technician (Farm Machinery) file asks for a 12th pass, or a 10th pass with three years of related work. The minimum age is 18. The Level 5 course for a custom hiring centre in-charge asks for more. One way in is to have finished the second year of an undergraduate course or a diploma. The minimum age is 20. So that course is a later step, not a first step.
The files give no rule on height, weight or eyesight. This is plain advice, not an official rule. Drone work needs good eyesight and steady hands, and tractor work needs strong legs and arms. Please ask the training centre what it expects. The drone file does give one safety rule. It says the pilot must not have taken any alcoholic drink in the 8 hours before a flight.

The Tractor Operator file says this person runs a tractor for farm work. The person also uses extra machines and tools that suit the task. Before a day's work, the operator checks oil, coolant, fuel, tyres, belts, lights and the battery. Then the operator fits the right tool to the tractor and drives it. The work in the file includes ploughing, levelling the land, adding fertiliser along the crop rows and hauling the harvested crop. The operator also does basic repair and care to keep the tractor running.
A tractor mechanic does routine checks and repairs the engine, gearbox, hydraulic parts and electrical parts of a tractor. The council file for Tractor Service Mechanic lists these duties. That file shows a deactivation date of 21 January 2026, which has passed. So please ask the Agriculture Skill Council of India for a newer version before you plan around it. The Repair and Maintenance Technician (Farm Machinery) course in the Courses section is the current repair course this check found.
The official files say a Kisan Drone Operator flies a drone to spray crop medicine and plant food. The pilot sets the spray system, plans the flight route over the field, marks the field edge and checks for trees, walls and wires. The pilot also follows safety rules for the chemicals, such as wearing protective gear and keeping away from water sources. After the flight, the pilot checks the drone for damage and does care work as the maker advises.
No separate official course for a drone technician was found in this check. The Kisan Drone Operator file does include basic drone assembly, equipment care and after-flight maintenance. So a drone pilot learns some repair skills, but the files do not call this a technician job.
The council file for a Custom Hiring Centre In-charge says this person gives hiring services to small farmers. The person sets up a centre and makes farm machines, tools and equipment available to farmers when they ask. The file says the person needs managing skills, good reading and writing, and good computer and accounts skills. This course is at Level 5 and asks for more than a 12th pass.
This person looks after milk animals, milks them, keeps the shed clean and sells milk. Dairy needs steady daily work and a market for milk. Ask your local dairy or cooperative how milk is bought.
This person raises birds for eggs or meat. The work needs clean sheds, correct feed and care about disease. Start small and learn the market first.
These are smaller lines that can start on little land. A nursery grows plants and seedlings. Bee keeping gives honey. Mushrooms grow indoors. Each needs training and a place to sell.
This person helps farmers with seed, advice, soil testing or simple farm services. NQR lists roles such as agriculture extension service provider. This work links with local farm groups.
| Kisan Drone Operator (latest file, version 2) | Level 3 | 270 (includes 90 on the job) | 10th pass; minimum age 18 | Open the course file |
| Tractor Operator | Level 4 | The file gives 13 credits and no hours figure | 12th pass; or 10th pass with a trade certificate; or 10th pass with 2 years of related work; minimum age 18 | Open the course file |
| Repair and Maintenance Technician (Farm Machinery) | Level 4 | The file gives 13 credits and no hours figure | 12th pass; or 10th pass with 3 years of related work; minimum age 18 | Open the course file |
| Custom Hiring Centre In-charge (Agri machinery) | Level 5 | The file gives 16 credits and no hours figure | Completed 2nd year of an undergraduate course or diploma, among other ways; minimum age 20 | Open the course file |
More courses to look for in the second group of work:
| Course to look for | What this person does | Official page |
|---|---|---|
| Dairy Farmer or Dairy Entrepreneur | Looks after milk animals and sells milk | NQR: Agriculture list |
| Poultry Farmer | Raises birds for eggs or meat | NQR: Agriculture list |
| Bee Keeper, Mushroom Grower, Nursery worker | Runs a small allied line | NQR: Agriculture list |
| Agriculture Extension Service Provider | Gives farmers advice and farm services | NQR: Agriculture list |
| Food processing helper courses | Works in a food processing unit | NQR: Food Industry list |
Sources: National Qualifications Register sector lists (nqr.gov.in); Government of India Cabinet release on the Agnipath scheme, 2022 (pmindia.gov.in). Course hours, skill levels and entry rules are not copied on this page. Please read them on the official pages before you join.
What you study in the Kisan Drone Operator course: the course has five parts. Flying a drone within the law (30 hours), which is taught and tested at a DGCA-approved training place. Drone-based spray of crop medicine and plant food (60 hours). Safety steps before, during and after spraying (60 hours). Job-readiness skills (30 hours). On-the-job training (90 hours). These add up to the 270 hours shown in the file.
What you study in the Tractor Operator course: the file gives credits, not hours, so this page does not add them up. The parts are: operating a tractor for farm work (5 credits); regular care and basic repair of the tractor (2 credits); health and safety at work (1 credit); and job-readiness skills (2 credits).
What you study in the repair course: the Repair and Maintenance Technician file has two main parts. One is general repair and care of farm machines. The other is finding faults, and repair and care of farm machines. The file gives credits for the whole course, not hours.
What you study in the custom hiring course: the file names a part on getting ready to set up the hiring centre. It also names a part on starting and managing a business. It gives 16 credits for the whole course and no hours figure.
Valid dates: the repair course file was approved on 30 May 2024 and shows a next review date of 30 May 2027. The drone course dates are in the date note above.
The official files name the Agriculture Skill Council of India as the body that checks the skills and gives the certificate. For the drone course, the file says the flying part is taught and tested at a DGCA-approved remote pilot training place. That place gives the Remote Pilot Certificate to those who pass the flying test. The file says no other licence is needed to join the training.
The drone file says a passed learner can fly a drone within the law and the safety rules. The learner can also spray crop medicine and plant food with the drone. The learner can keep the drone in good working order after use. The Tractor Operator file says a passed learner can check, drive and care for a tractor and use it for ploughing, levelling and hauling. The custom hiring file says the learner can set up a centre and make machines available to farmers.
For you as an Agniveer: the Government of India Cabinet release of 2022 says that an Agniveer who completes four years is paid a one-time Seva Nidhi package.
The latest drone file lists Entrepreneur as a step after the Kisan Drone Operator course. The custom hiring file is about setting up a centre and renting machines to farmers. So some people may start with a service for spraying fields or renting machines in their own area.
Loan schemes such as PMEGP and MUDRA exist for small businesses in general. Please read the scheme rules or ask a bank to learn if you qualify, before you plan around a loan. A drone or a tractor can cost a lot, so plan the money with care.
For loans and training in general, see our Self-Employment and Loans card and our Free Govt Training card.
Use only official places. These include centres listed on Skill India Digital and training partners linked to NSDC. For farm machinery and drone courses, ask the Agriculture Skill Council of India. For the flying part of the drone course, the file says the training must be at a remote pilot training place approved by DGCA. So check that approval before you pay.
For fees, batches and how to apply, please use the official links in the Courses section above. Before you join, ask the centre for a written fee list. Also ask who will give the certificate.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
The latest course file asks for a 10th pass and a minimum age of 18. It does not name Agniveer service as a condition. The flying part must be done at a training place approved by DGCA. Please check your papers against the file and confirm the rule with the centre in writing.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
The latest file shows 270 hours in total. This includes 90 hours of on-the-job training and 30 hours of job-readiness skills. At 6 hours a day, 270 hours is about 45 days. The real number of days depends on the centre, so please ask before you join. Older versions showed different hours.
The course file says no licence is needed to join the training. A DGCA-approved remote pilot training place gives the Remote Pilot Certificate to learners who clear the flying test. So the certificate comes through the course. Please check the current DGCA rules with the training place before you start.
You learn to check a tractor before work, fit the right tool and drive it for ploughing, levelling and hauling. You also learn regular care and basic repair, health and safety, and job-readiness skills. The file gives 13 credits and no hours figure. Please ask the centre how many hours it plans.
No separate official course for a drone technician was found in this check. The Kisan Drone Operator course covers basic drone assembly, equipment care and after-flight maintenance. Please search the NQR for a newer drone technician course, and ask the Agriculture Skill Council of India or the Aerospace and Aviation sector body.
It is a place that rents farm machines, tools and equipment to farmers who cannot buy them. The council file says the person in charge sets up the centre and gives hiring services to small farmers. The course is at Level 5. It asks for a second year of a degree or diploma, among other ways.
Courses in India are ranked on a national scale called NSQF. It goes from level 1 to level 10. Level 4 is an early skill level, meant for people who work with some guidance. The Level 5 course on this page asks for a diploma or more study, so it comes later in your path.
Open nqr.gov.in and search for the course name or the code given in the Courses section. The page shows who can join, the hours and the certificate details. You can also open the council files linked on this page. Please keep a copy of the page you used when you talk to a training centre.
Not for every line. Some lines can start on small plots or in rented space. Others, such as dairy, need more space. Plan before you spend.
It can be, but results depend on weather, price and your skill. Talk to local farmers and ask for honest costs. Start small.
A registered veterinary doctor needs a recognised degree, so please check the rules for treating animals.
Loan schemes exist. Please read their rules and ask a bank about your plan before you depend on a loan.
They need less land but need training and a market. Learn first, start small and find your buyer.

Factories make metal parts and join them into machines. Two skills are at the heart of this work. The first is machining, which means cutting metal into the right shape on a machine. The second is welding, which means joining two metal pieces with heat.
A lathe is a machine that spins a piece of metal while a cutting tool shapes it. This is called turning. CNC stands for Computer Numerically Controlled. A CNC machine follows a program, so it cuts the same part again and again with great accuracy. The official qualification pack for CNC Operator Turning says this person sets up the CNC turning machine and the tools that hold the work, and then runs the turning job.
A fitter puts parts together and checks that they fit. The official pack for Fitter Mechanical Assembly lists quality checks for correct assembly, size accuracy and quality standards. A welder joins metal using methods such as arc welding. The pack for Manual Metal Arc Welding also covers cutting metal with gas flame.
This work is done inside workshops and factories. It needs care, because machines are fast and metal is hot or sharp. This page shows the jobs, the official course links and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to join this field after service.
Course time is different for each course. The hours are in the official file of each course.
This field suits people who like exact work. You must read a drawing, measure with care and keep your mind on the job. You should also be able to follow safety rules every single time. Metal work does not forgive small mistakes.
The entry rule is different for each course, so please read the official file before you plan. For example, a model curriculum for CNC Operator Turning from the council lists a 10th standard pass as the minimum. The CNC Operator Turning qualification pack also names a Level 3 Operator Conventional Turning certificate as a way in. Another pack, for Fitter Mechanical Assembly, is listed at Level 3. The files can change with each new version, so open the one you plan to join.
The Welder trade of the Directorate General of Training, called DGT, is also on the NQR. NQR is the government's official list of courses. The DGT welder curriculum is a one-year course at skill level 3. Please open it to see the entry rule.
The files give no rule on eyesight or body fitness for these courses. This is plain advice, not an official rule. Welding and fine measuring need good eyesight. Standing for long hours needs a healthy back and legs. A welder works with bright light and fumes, so tell your trainer about any lung or eye trouble before you start.
There are six types of work here. Tap any one to read more.
The qualification pack CSC/Q0115 says a CNC Operator Turning is responsible for setting up the CNC turning machine and the tools that hold the work, and for carrying out turning jobs. The pack has two parts: setting up the machine, and carrying out the turning. The pack lists safe working practice as part of what the person must know. Another file lists CNC Operator Turning and CNC Operator VMC as next steps after a basic lathe course. VMC means vertical machining centre.
The council handbook lists CNC Programmer as a course with the code CSC/Q0401. A separate NQR file, for a CNC Lathe Machine Junior Technician and Programmer, says the person creates CNC turning programs and runs the machine. This page did not open the entry rules of either file, so it gives none. Please read them before you plan.
A turner runs a lathe. The council file for Operator Conventional Turning describes the person who works on a basic lathe machine. It lists CNC Operator Turning, CNC Operator VMC and Fitter Fabrication as the next steps. The file places this course at Level 2, which is a starting level.
A fitter assembles parts and checks that they fit. The council lists Fitter Mechanical Assembly as CSC/Q0304 and Fitter Fabrication as CSC/Q0303, both at Level 3 in its handbook. The assembly pack lists quality checks for correct assembly and size accuracy. A machinist cuts parts on machine tools, so the turning and CNC courses above are the nearest official routes.
Welder courses come from two places. The Capital Goods Skill Council has packs for Manual Metal Arc Welding, also called Shielded Metal Arc Welding, and for MIG and MAG welding. The Directorate General of Training has a one-year Welder trade. The MIG and MAG welding pack also covers cutting metal with gas flame and with plasma arc.
This page found no official course called Quality Inspector in this council's list, so it shows no course for this job. The Fitter Mechanical Assembly pack includes quality checks as one task. Please ask the council if it has a separate inspection course.
This page does not copy hours, levels or dates. Please open each official file to see them. The National Qualifications Register (NQR) is the government's official list of courses. The skill level scale is called NSQF. It runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work.

Which version to trust: the first row is the newer CNC Turning Operator qualification on the NQR, and it can replace the older CNC Operator Turning pack listed below (code CSC/Q0115). The progression path on the NQR page leads from this course to CNC Programmer at Level 5 and then to Multi Axis CNC Machine Engineer at Level 6. Please ask the council which version is current before you join.
How to find these courses on the NQR: open nqr.gov.in and type the course name or its code in the search box. The page that opens shows who can join, the hours and the valid dates. Use the code, because it picks the exact version of the course. These are the codes the files show:
Fees, batches and how to apply: we do not list fees or dates, because they differ by training centre and change often. Please use the official links below.
What you study in CNC Operator Turning: the qualification pack names two main parts. One is setting up the CNC turning machine for work. The other is carrying out turning jobs on the CNC machine. The pack also covers turning of outer and inner surfaces and facing. This page does not copy the hours.
The certificate comes from the body named on each official file. For the council packs, the files name the Capital Goods Skill Council as the body that assesses and awards the course. For the Welder trade of the Directorate General of Training, the NQR page names that directorate as the certifying body. Please read the file of your course to confirm.
The files say a passed learner can do the work in the job role. For CNC Operator Turning, this means setting up and running a CNC lathe. For Fitter Mechanical Assembly, it means assembling parts and doing quality checks. For the welder courses, it means joining metal by the welding method taught.
This page did not find any credit for Agniveer service in the course files, so please ask the training centre in writing. You can read the release at pmindia.gov.in.
The official files show these kinds of steps. Please open each file to see the exact next course.
Many people may start as workers in a small workshop, then take job work from local factories. Later they may buy a machine of their own. A CNC machine is costly, so please talk to workshop owners and ask what orders are available in your area before you invest. The course files give no business plan.
Welders may also take small jobs such as gates, grills and repair work. This is plain advice, not an official rule. Check your local rules for work done in public places.
For the council courses, ask the Capital Goods Skill Council at cgssc.org. For the Welder trade, ask a government ITI (Industrial Training Institute) or the Directorate General of Training at dgt.gov.in.
Before you join, ask the centre for a written fee list. Also ask who will give the certificate.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
The qualification pack says a CNC Operator Turning sets up the CNC turning machine and the work holding tools, then runs turning jobs on it. In plain words, the person prepares the machine, loads the metal, starts the program and checks the part. It needs care with measuring and strict attention to safety rules.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
The CNC Operator Turning pack names a Level 3 Operator Conventional Turning certificate as one way in. The conventional turning file names CNC Operator Turning as a next step. A model curriculum from the council lists a 10th standard pass as the minimum. Please check the file you plan to join.
Yes. The council has packs for Manual Metal Arc Welding and for MIG and MAG welding. The Directorate General of Training has a one-year Welder trade at skill level 3. Their entry rules are different. Please open the files, compare them, and ask the training centre which one it teaches and who gives the certificate.
This page found no official course called Quality Inspector in the council list. The Fitter Mechanical Assembly pack includes quality checks for correct assembly, size accuracy and quality standards. Please ask the council whether a separate inspection course exists, and search the NQR with the words quality inspector before you pay for any training.
Older files name the Capital Goods Skill Council. A newer file and the council website say Capital Goods & Strategic Skill Council. This page could not confirm the change in name on the council website. Please look at the website cgssc.org and ask the training centre which name appears on your certificate.
Search the NQR for the course code. The page shows valid dates and the version. Some files linked here are older versions of a pack, so the entry rule or hours may have changed. Ask the council or the training centre in writing which version they teach. Do not join a centre that cannot show a current code.
Open nqr.gov.in and search for the course name or the code given in the Courses section. The page shows who can join, the hours, the valid dates and who gives the certificate. You can also use the council list and the DGT website linked on this page. Keep a copy of the page you used when you talk to a centre.

The security and safety sector protects people, buildings and goods. Its workers guard gates, check visitors, patrol sites, watch cameras and help when there is a fire or an accident. Every factory, mall, office, hospital and housing society needs this kind of protection.
For an Agniveer, this is one of the easiest fields to enter. After four years of service you already know discipline, alertness, drill and teamwork. These are the habits that security employers look for first.
The courses in this card are set by a national body called MEPSC and listed on the National Qualifications Register (NQR) of the Government of India. This page uses only what those official files say. Where the files give no answer, we say so.
This sector has five main types of work. Tap any one to read more.
The guard is the first line of protection for a site. The official file lists these duties: guarding people and property, controlling who enters and leaves, checking people and vehicles, controlling parking and writing incident reports.
A guard also helps in a fire or medical emergency until trained help arrives. Guards also watch CCTV screens and report anything unusual to the supervisor.
An armed guard does the same first-tier guarding but with a firearm, so extra training and legal rules apply. The official file for this course is NSQF Level 4 and about 390 hours of training.
Firearm licensing rules differ by state. Information on licence steps will be updated soon.
A supervisor runs a unit of 6 to 15 guards. The work includes making duty rosters, giving tasks, running mock fire drills, handling lost and found property and looking after the welfare of the team.
The official file calls this NSQF Level 4.5, with 480 hours of training.
This officer protects one person, such as a senior leader, and often works with a team. The official file lists it at NSQF Level 4.5 with 420 hours of training.
It needs more experience than a guard job, so most people reach it after some years in the field.
Basic fire safety, first aid and CCTV watching are part of the guard course itself. The guard file includes using fire extinguishers on different fires and helping people leave a building safely.
Separate courses for Fire Safety Officer, Industrial Safety and CCTV installation also exist. We are still checking their official files, so details will be updated soon.
The table below shows the main security courses and what each one asks for. Every figure comes from the official NQR file for that course. Fees are not given in these files, so fee details will be updated soon.
| Course | NSQF level | Training hours | Entry needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Security Guard | 3 | 330 | 10th pass, age 18+ |
| Armed Security Guard | 4 | About 390 | See official file |
| Security Supervisor | 4.5 | 480 | 10th pass plus 5 years, or 12th pass plus 3 years, of relevant experience; age 22+ |
| Personal Security Officer | 4.5 | 420 | See official file |
Passing marks: the Security Guard course needs 50 percent overall, and the Supervisor course needs 70 percent overall. Both certificates are valid for 36 months in the official register, and the next review is due in May 2028. Please check the latest file before you enrol.
Physical standards: the guard file follows the PSARA 2005 law. Height should be 160 cm for men and 150 cm for women, with a 5 cm relaxation for some groups. Chest should be 80 cm with 4 cm expansion for men. Eyesight should be 6/6 with or without glasses, and a man aged 18 to 30 should run 1 km in 6 minutes. A yearly medical check is also needed.
This is the most useful finding for you. In the official Security Guard and Security Supervisor files, experience as an ex-servicemen (Agniveer), armed forces or para-military member is named as relevant experience.
For the Guard course, the file lists a route for people who already hold a lower security qualification (NSQF Level 2.5 plus 1.5 years of experience, or Level 2 plus 3 years). For the Supervisor course, 10th pass needs 5 years of relevant experience and 12th pass needs 3 years.
Please note that your experience helps only together with the education or earlier qualification the file asks for. How many days of Agniveer service are accepted by each training centre is not stated in the files. Please ask the training partner and MEPSC in writing before you pay any fee.
You do not need a degree to begin as a guard. A 10th pass certificate and the physical standards are the base. Keep these papers ready:
Employers also value a polite manner, honest reporting, punctuality and clear speech. The guard course includes 30 hours of employability skills such as basic English, communication and getting ready for a job.
The official guard file describes work at commercial and industrial sites, parking areas, entry gates, screening points and mail rooms. Private security agencies hire most guards and place them at client sites.
Pay figures are not given in the official files, so salary details will be updated soon. Please never pay money to get a job. Ask a training partner for a written fee list and check that the certificate comes from MEPSC.
Most people start as a guard and move up one step at a time.
Some people later start a security agency or work as a contract supervisor. Private security agencies are regulated under the PSARA 2005 law, and a licence is needed. The exact steps and fees will be updated soon.
For loans and training to start a business, see our Self-Employment and Loans card and our Free Govt Training card.
Yes, if you meet the entry rule. The official file asks for a 10th pass certificate and age 18 or more. Agniveer service is named as relevant experience in some entry routes.
The official file gives 330 hours. This has 112 hours of theory, 148 hours of practical work and 70 hours of on-the-job training.
The PSARA standard is 160 cm for men and 150 cm for women. The file allows 5 cm relaxation for some groups such as Gorkhas and SC or ST candidates.
A guard does the daily guarding work. A supervisor leads 6 to 15 guards, makes rosters, runs drills and handles team welfare.
The official file lists Security Officer as the next step.
The register shows 36 months for both the Guard and Supervisor files, with the next review in May 2028. Please check the latest file before you apply.
Yes. MEPSC assesses every learner at the training venue. The test has a written part and a practical part in a 40 to 60 ratio, and the learner must be registered with an Aadhaar number. The pass mark is 50 percent overall for guards and 70 percent for supervisors.
It sits one level higher, at NSQF Level 4, with about 390 hours of training. Firearm licence rules differ by state, so please read the official file and ask your state authority before you plan for this role.
The official Security Guard and Supervisor files say the course and model curriculum are also submitted in Hindi. Please ask your training partner which language the classes will use.
The official files do not give fees or pay. This information will be updated soon. Ask the training partner for a written fee list.
Search the National Qualifications Register at nqr.gov.in for Security Guard, Security Supervisor and Armed Security Guard. MEPSC also lists them at mepsc.in.

Logistics means moving goods from one place to another and storing them on the way. A product may travel by truck, wait in a warehouse, and then reach a customer by a delivery person. Each step needs trained people. This page covers four kinds of work: driving, warehouse work, delivery, and the supervision of these tasks.
A warehouse is a large building where goods are stored, sorted and packed. A forklift is a small vehicle with two forks at the front that lifts heavy loads. The official files call forklifts and similar machines Material Handling Equipment, or MHE. A courier is a person or company that carries parcels and documents to a customer.
The Logistics Sector Skill Council writes the courses for this field. It offers training in warehousing, courier work and driving. The work can be long and tiring, with early starts and late finishes. Safety matters a lot, because you handle heavy vehicles and heavy loads. This page shows the jobs, the official course links and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to join this field after service.
Course time is different for each course. The hours are in the official file of each course.
This field suits people who can stay alert for long hours and follow rules without being watched. Drivers must obey road rules and care for the vehicle and the cargo. Warehouse staff must be careful and neat, because a wrong label or a damaged box costs money. Delivery staff talk to customers, so good manners help.
The entry rule is different for each course. The official pages show it, so please read it before you plan. Two examples from the files show the range. The Cargo Vehicle Driver pack for non-hazardous goods names a Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) licence as a pre-requisite. It also lists a minimum job entry age of 19 years. The forklift pack, called Material Handling Equipment Operator and Technician, lists a Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) licence for four-wheeler driving. The file lists several school or ITI routes in, and one of them is a 12th pass. NQR is the government's official list of courses. Please read the file of the course you want.
The files give no rule on eyesight or body fitness for every course. This is plain advice, not an official rule. A driver needs good eyesight and quick reactions. Warehouse work needs you to lift, bend and stand for hours. If you have a back or eye problem, tell your trainer. Also ask the Regional Transport Office, called the RTO, about the licence class and any other rule for the vehicle you want to drive.
The Logistics Sector Skill Council has a qualification pack called Cargo Vehicle Driver (Non-hazardous goods), with the code LSC/Q1301. It has electives for a multi-axle vehicle, an over-dimensional vehicle and a medium commercial vehicle. The pack has four parts: preparing the vehicle and cargo, driving safely and responsibly, guiding and controlling the vehicle, and health, safety and security for drivers. The council list also shows Commercial Vehicle Driver - LMO with the code LSC/Q1005. This page did not open that file, so it gives no details.
The council has a pack called Courier Delivery Executive, code LSC/Q3023. Its participant handbook lists parts on preparing for shipment delivery, performing courier delivery, post-delivery work, and safety, security, health and soft skills. A second pack, Consignment Delivery Executive, has the code LSC/Q1801. Its file lists a unit called Perform Delivery. Please open both and compare.
The council list shows Warehouse Associate with the code LSC/Q0101. A related pack, Warehouse Packer (LSC/Q2303), says the packer packs goods that have been picked, checks for damaged or wrongly labelled goods and reports problems. The title Warehouse Associate is also used for floor staff and packers, according to that file.
The pack Material Handling Equipment Operator and Technician (LSC/Q0401) says the person operates the equipment to move, load and unload cargo in a warehouse. The person also does basic maintenance of the equipment and prepares performance reports. The file says that with three years of experience, the person can progress to a supervisor role. The council also lists a Forklift Operator or Driver pack with the code ASC/Q9707 on an NSDC list. Please check which one is current.
This page found no official course called Fleet Supervisor. A related file, Land Transportation Associate, says the person handles vehicle movement and ground operations. The person gets order details, processes documents, plans routes and works with the fleet supervisor on drivers and vehicle upkeep. A Warehouse Supervisor pack (LSC/Q0102) also exists for the storage side.
This page does not copy hours, levels or dates. Please open each official file to see them. The National Qualifications Register (NQR) is the government's official list of courses. The skill level scale is called NSQF. It runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work.

How to find these courses on the NQR: open nqr.gov.in and type the course name or its code in the search box. The page that opens shows who can join, the hours and the valid dates. Use the code, because it picks the exact version of the course. These are the course codes:
Fees, batches and how to apply: we do not list fees or dates, because they differ by training centre and change often. Please use the official links below.
What you study in the driver course: the Cargo Vehicle Driver pack lists four parts. Prepare the vehicle and cargo. Drive safely and responsibly. Guide and control the vehicle. Follow health, safety and security steps for drivers. One line in the file says the driver must not be under the effect of illegal substances or alcohol. This page does not copy the hours.
The certificate comes from the body named on each official file. The files for the packs on this page name the Logistics Sector Skill Council as the body that awards the qualification. Please read the file of your course to confirm. A course certificate is not a driving licence. A driving licence comes from the transport office, so please ask the RTO about it.
The qualification files say a passed learner can do the work in the job role. A driver can prepare a vehicle, drive safely and follow safety steps. A forklift operator can move, load and unload cargo and do basic upkeep of the machine. A delivery executive can prepare for delivery, hand over the shipment and finish the post-delivery steps.
This page did not find any credit for Agniveer service in the course files, so please ask the training centre in writing. You can read the release at pmindia.gov.in.
The official files show these kinds of steps. Please open each file to see the exact next course.
Some people may start by driving a vehicle for a company, then buy or lease their own. Others may start a small delivery service in their town. A vehicle used for hire needs the right papers, so please ask the RTO what is needed before you buy. The course files give no business plan, so talk to local transport owners and shop owners about demand first.
An e-commerce delivery partner or a small courier agent works with a larger company. Please read the company terms in full before you sign. This is plain advice, not an official rule.
For these courses, ask the Logistics Sector Skill Council at lsc-india.com. A government ITI (Industrial Training Institute) may also run related trades. For a driving licence, go to the RTO.
Before you join, ask the centre for a written fee list. Also ask who will give the certificate.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
The Cargo Vehicle Driver pack for non-hazardous goods names a Heavy Motor Vehicle licence as a pre-requisite. The forklift pack lists a Light Motor Vehicle licence. A course certificate is not a licence. Please read your course file and ask the RTO, the transport office, about the licence class you need.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
The qualification file says the operator moves, loads and unloads cargo in a warehouse. The person also does basic upkeep of the equipment and prepares performance reports. The file says that with three years of experience, the person can move up to a supervisor role. It also names port terminals and courier work as sideways moves.
Yes. The Logistics Sector Skill Council has Courier Delivery Executive and Consignment Delivery Executive packs. The courier handbook lists parts on preparing for delivery, performing delivery, post-delivery work and safety. This page did not open every entry rule, so please read each file and ask the council which pack is current.
This page found no official course called Fleet Supervisor. A Land Transportation Associate file covers vehicle movement and ground operations, including route plans and work with the fleet supervisor. Please ask the Logistics Sector Skill Council whether a fleet course exists, and search the NQR with the words fleet or transport.
A warehouse associate works on the floor of a warehouse. The council lists Warehouse Associate as a pack with the code LSC/Q0101. A related file says floor staff and packers may use the same title. Tasks can include picking goods, packing them, finding damaged items and reporting errors. Please open the pack for the full task list.
Search the NQR for the course code. The page shows valid dates and the version. Some files linked here are older versions, so the entry rule or hours may have changed. Ask the council or the training centre in writing which version they teach. Do not join a centre that cannot show a current code.
Open nqr.gov.in and search for the course name or the code given in the Courses section. The page shows who can join, the hours, the valid dates and who gives the certificate. You can also use the Logistics Sector Skill Council list linked on this page. Keep a copy of the page you used when you talk to a training centre.

Retail means selling goods to people in a shop or a store. A retail sales associate helps a customer pick a product and then helps with the sale. A cashier takes the payment. A store team leader plans the display of goods and leads a small team. Customer service means helping people who have a question or a problem. A customer care executive answers calls or messages from customers and solves their problems.
The official retail files list the main tasks. The Retail Team Leader file talks about planning and organising goods, with a focus on sales and on leading a team. Its list of parts includes organising the display of products, planning visual merchandising, satisfying customer needs, processing the sale, keeping goods available, and solving customer service problems. Visual merchandising means arranging goods so that they look good and are easy to find.
A customer care file from the IT and business process sector says the person answers inquiries, resolves problems, records complaints and receives feedback. A telecom file for a customer care executive says the person gives customer service support and follows up on customer queries.
This work is done in shops, malls, call centres and service centres. It often means long standing hours or long hours on the phone. You need patience, because some customers are upset. This page shows the jobs, the official course links and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to join this field after service.
Course time is different for each course. The hours are in the official file of each course.
This field suits people who like to talk to others and stay calm when a customer is angry. You should speak clearly, listen well and keep your temper. You should also be neat and on time, because a store keeps fixed hours. Basic sums help a lot when you handle cash and bills.
The entry rule is different for each course. The official pages show it, so please read it before you plan. Some examples from the files show the range. The Retail Sales Associate qualification pack lists a minimum job entry age of 18 years and no licence or training as a pre-requisite. The NQR file for Retail Sales Associate names a Level 2 Retail Cashier certificate as a previous qualification, and names Retail Team Leader as the next step. NQR is the government's official list of courses. For the customer care courses, the entry rule is different in each file, and some files ask for school pass plus work experience. Please open each page yourself.
The files do not set a height, weight or fitness rule for these courses. This is plain advice, not an official rule. A shop job asks you to stand for hours. A call centre job asks for clear speech and good hearing. English or the local language of your area is useful, so practise speaking with people.
Yes, any Agniveer can. When you leave service you do not carry a trade with you, so nobody starts from a different place, and the branch you served in does not decide whether you can join. What decides it is the entry rule of the course you choose, which is shown on its official page.
Some Agniveers did work in service that looks like this, such as dealing with people, keeping records or looking after others, and they may find the first weeks easier. That is a small head start, not a condition. If your service was in a different kind of role, you can still learn this work. You may need to put in more effort at the start, but you already have discipline, teamwork and the habit of working under pressure.
Choose the course first, and then read its entry rule on the official page before you pay any fee.
There are five types of work here. Tap any one to read more.
The qualification pack RAS/Q0104 for Retail Sales Associate lists 16 parts. They include helping customers choose the right products, demonstrating products, helping to keep the store secure, helping to maintain health and safety, working in a retail team and promoting better service. The NQR file says the next step after this course is Retail Team Leader.
The retail course list shows a Cashier pack with the code RAS/Q0102 at Level 2. This page did not open its file, so it gives no details. A cashier takes payments in a store. The NQR file for Retail Sales Associate names a Level 2 Retail Cashier certificate as a way in to that course.
This page found no official course with the title Store Keeper in the retail list. An NCVET order from 2022 names a qualification called Retail Store Ops Assistant. This page did not open its file, so it gives no details. Store keeper work is also covered in the logistics field, so please see our Driving, Logistics and Delivery page.
The NQR has several customer care files. The IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council NASSCOM lists Customer Care Executive for domestic voice work and for domestic non-voice work. Voice means phone calls. Non-voice means chat or email. The Telecom Sector Skill Council lists Telecom Customer Care Executive for a call centre, and another for a repair centre where customers walk in. Please read the job description in each file before you choose.
The qualification pack RAS/Q0105 for Retail Team Leader lists parts such as organising the display of products, planning visual merchandising, allocating and checking work in the team, and solving customer service problems. The NQR page says the next step after Team Leader is Retail Departmental Manager. The pack lists a Level 3.5 certificate as one way in, so experience in a store matters.

These are the codes the files show:
Fees, batches and how to apply: we do not list fees or dates, because they differ by training centre and change often. Please use the official links below.
What you study in the Team Leader course: the NQR page lists eleven parts. They are organising the display of products, planning visual merchandising, establishing and satisfying customer needs, processing the sale of products, keeping goods available for sale, allocating and checking work in your team, monitoring and solving customer service problems, communicating with stakeholders, helping to maintain health and safety, working in a retail team and working in an organisation. This page does not copy the hours.
The certificate comes from the awarding body named on the official file and on your own certificate. For retail courses, please read the council note above. For the customer care courses, the files name the IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council NASSCOM and the Telecom Sector Skill Council. Please read the file of your course to confirm.
The qualification files say a passed learner can do the work in the job role. A retail sales associate can help customers choose products and complete a sale. A team leader can plan a display and lead a team. A customer care executive can answer inquiries and record complaints.
This page did not find any credit for Agniveer service in the course files, so please ask the training centre in writing. You can read the release at pmindia.gov.in.
The official files show this path for retail work. Please open each file to see the exact next course.
Many people may start by working in a shop to learn stock, pricing and customer habits. Later they may open a small shop of their own. The course files give no business plan, so please talk to local shop owners and suppliers before you invest. Check the rent, the stock cost and the number of customers in the area.
Some retail courses on the NCVET list are aimed at self-employed sellers. They have titles such as Self-employed e-tailer and Business Builder or Retailer. This page did not open them. Please ask the council or search the NQR for these titles.
For retail courses, ask the centre which skill council now gives the certificate, as the note in the Courses section explains. For customer care courses, ask the IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council NASSCOM or the Telecom Sector Skill Council. A government ITI (Industrial Training Institute) may also run related trades.
Before you join, ask the centre for a written fee list. Also ask who will give the certificate.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
An NCVET order from 2022 says the Retailers Association's Skill Council of India was discontinued as a recognised awarding body. It allowed other councils to adopt its courses. Some NQR files still show the old council in the code. Ask the centre in writing which body gives your certificate and what the course code is before you pay.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
The qualification pack lists tasks such as helping customers choose the right products, showing how products work, keeping the store secure and following health and safety rules. The person also works in a retail team and helps to improve service. The NQR file names Retail Team Leader as the next step in the career.
It may help. The trade data matches Store Keeper Technical with Warehouse or Inventory Manager, and Clerk with Admin Manager or Inventory Manager. But a course still asks you to meet its own entry rule. The files do not name Agniveer service as a condition, so please check with the training centre in writing.
Voice work means you talk to customers on the phone. Non-voice work means you help customers in writing, such as by chat or email. The IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council NASSCOM has separate files for each. Their entry rules are different, so please open both and choose the one that suits your language skills.
This page found no official course called Store Keeper in the retail list. An NCVET order names Retail Store Ops Assistant, which this page did not open. Store keeping is also part of logistics work, so please see the Driving, Logistics and Delivery page, and search the NQR with the words store keeper before you pay.
The files do not set one language rule for every course. A telecom customer care file lists the skill of switching to the customer's language to make the customer feel at ease. This is plain advice: speak the language of your area well, and learn basic English, because many shops and call centres use it.
Search the NQR for the course code. The page shows valid dates and the version. Some files linked here are older versions, so the entry rule or hours may have changed. Ask the training centre in writing which version they teach. Do not join a centre that cannot show a current code and the name of the certifying body.
Open nqr.gov.in and search for the course name or the code given in the Courses section. The page shows who can join, the hours, the valid dates and who gives the certificate. You can also open the NCVET order linked in the sources. Keep a copy of the page you used when you talk to a training centre.

An airport is busy long before a plane takes off. Many people work on the ground to keep passengers, bags, cargo and aircraft moving safely. This page covers five kinds of ground work: airline and terminal staff, security, baggage, cargo and ramp work. The ramp is the open area where aircraft stand, and where they are loaded and unloaded. The words airside and landside also appear in the files. Airside is the part of the airport near the aircraft, which only trained and approved staff can enter. Landside is the public part.
The Aerospace and Aviation Sector Skill Council, called AASSC, writes the courses for this field. Its course list names jobs such as Airline Baggage Handler, Airline Ramp Executive, Airline Cargo Assistant, Airline Security Executive, Airline Customer Service Executive and Airport Terminal Operations Executive.
Safety rules come first in airport work. A small mistake on the ramp can hurt a person or damage an aircraft. The work often runs in shifts, including nights and holidays, because flights do not stop. This page shows the jobs, the official course links and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to join this field after service.
Course time is different for each course. The hours are in the official file of each course.
This field suits people who stay calm, follow rules without being watched, and speak politely to passengers. You should be neat and on time. You should also be ready to work in shifts, in all weather on the ramp, and to stay alert for long hours.
The entry rule is different for each course. The official pages show it, so please read it before you plan. For example, the NQR file for the Airline Ground Support Equipment Operator lists three ways in. The first is a 12th pass. The second is a 10th pass with two years of work, and it says a light or heavy motor vehicle licence is required. The third is a certificate at Level 3 on the skill scale. NQR is the government's official list of courses. The skill scale is called NSQF, and it runs from 1 to 10. Please open the file of each course to read its own rule.
The files linked here give no rule on height, weight or eyesight. This is plain advice, not an official rule. Some airline and airport employers set their own limits on age, height or eyesight, so please ask the employer. Airside work may also need a background check and a pass from the airport. This is plain advice. The files on this page do not describe that step, so please ask the training centre and the employer about it before you pay for any course.
Yes, any Agniveer can. When you leave service you do not carry a trade with you, so nobody starts from a different place, and the branch you served in does not decide whether you can join. What decides it is the entry rule of the course you choose, which is shown on its official page.

There are five types of work here. Tap any one to read more.
Ground staff is a general name. The AASSC list shows Airline Customer Service Executive and Airport Terminal Operations Executive. The NQR page for Airport Terminal Operations Executive lists parts on an introduction to airport operations, daily operations and readiness, incidents, accidents, security and emergency handling, complaint resolution, digital and AI work at the airport, safety and security rules, and employability skills. This page did not open the Customer Service Executive file.
The AASSC list shows a course called Airline Security Executive. This page did not open its file, so it gives no details. Airport safety is also covered by an NQR page called Airport Safety Officer. Its job description says the person keeps airside and landside areas safe, does regular inspections, finds hazards and responds to emergencies. Please ask AASSC which course airport employers accept for screening work.
The AASSC list shows Airline Baggage Handler. The NSDC list shows an Airline Baggage Handler pack with the code AAS/Q0104 under retired standards. So a newer version may be in use. This page did not open the file, so it gives no details. Please read the version on the NQR before you join.
The AASSC list shows Airline Cargo Assistant and Airport Cargo Operations Assistant. It also shows an Airport Warehouse Coordinator course. This page did not open these files, so it gives no details. Please open them from the council list and compare their entry rules.
The AASSC list shows Airline Ramp Executive. Another file, for the Airline Ground Support Equipment Operator, says the person operates and maintains ground support equipment such as tugs, belt loaders and aircraft tractors. It says this work keeps aircraft and luggage moving safely on the ground, and that the operator must be trained in safety rules, equipment handling and airport operations.

This code is shown in the file:
Fees, batches and how to apply: we do not list fees or dates, because they differ by training centre and change often. Please use the official links below.
What you study in the Airport Terminal Operations Executive course: the NQR page lists seven parts. They are an introduction to airport operations, performing daily operations and ensuring readiness, handling incidents, accidents, security and emergencies, resolving complaints and handling stakeholders, digital and AI work at the airport, following safety and security procedures, and employability skills. This page does not copy the hours.
The certificate comes from the body named on each official file. The files for the courses on this page name the Aerospace and Aviation Sector Skill Council as the submitting and awarding body. Please read the file of your course to confirm.
The qualification files say a passed learner can do the work in the job role. A ground support equipment operator can run and look after tugs, belt loaders and aircraft tractors. A terminal operations executive can help run daily airport operations and handle complaints. An airport safety officer can check for hazards and respond to emergencies.
This page did not find any credit for Agniveer service in the course files, so please ask the training centre in writing. You can read the release at pmindia.gov.in.
The official council list and files show that this field has several levels of work. Please open each file to see the exact next course.
Most airport jobs are with airlines, airport operators and ground handling companies, so work for an employer first. Some people later start related services such as a cargo agency or a transport service for airport pickups. The course files give no business plan, so please talk to people in the trade and check the local rules for airport work before you invest.
For these courses, ask the Aerospace and Aviation Sector Skill Council at aassc.in. A government ITI (Industrial Training Institute) may also run related trades.
Plain advice: some private institutes sell long diploma courses for airport ground staff and say that the certificate comes from AASSC. Before you pay, search the exact course name on the NQR and ask AASSC in writing if the institute is its training partner. Do not trust a promise of a job.
Before you join, ask the centre for a written fee list. Also ask who will give the certificate.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
The Aerospace and Aviation Sector Skill Council, called AASSC, runs them. The NQR and NSDC pages name it as the sector skill council for aviation courses. Its website lists the courses. Please check the council website and the NQR for the newest list before you join, because course names and versions change.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
The AASSC list shows Airline Baggage Handler and Airline Ramp Executive. This page did not open their files, so it gives no entry rules. A baggage handler pack also appears under retired standards on the NSDC list, so a newer version may exist. Please open the NQR page and ask AASSC for the current version.
One entry route in the Airline Ground Support Equipment Operator file says a light or heavy motor vehicle licence is required. Other routes in that file do not mention it. Please open the file, read each route, and ask the training centre in writing. Also ask the airport employer if it needs any airport driving permit.
The AASSC list shows Airline Security Executive, which this page did not open. An NQR page for Airport Safety Officer also covers safety and emergency work at the airport. Please ask AASSC which course airport employers accept for screening work, and check the NQR for the exact code before you pay for any training.
The NQR page lists parts on airport operations, daily readiness, handling incidents and emergencies, resolving complaints, digital tools at the airport, and safety and security rules. In plain words, the person helps run the terminal each day, keeps passengers moving, handles problems and follows safety rules. The page also lists employability skills.
This is plain advice. Some private institutes offer long diploma courses and say the certificate is from AASSC. Please search the course name on the NQR and ask AASSC in writing if the institute is its training partner. Ask for a written fee list. Never pay anyone for a job promise.
Open nqr.gov.in and search for the course name or the code given in the Courses section. The page shows who can join, the hours, the valid dates and who gives the certificate. You can also open the AASSC course list linked on this page. Keep a copy of the page you used when you talk to a training centre.

Office work means keeping records, typing, filing, handling bills and helping a team run. Data entry means typing information into a computer without mistakes. An office assistant also answers calls, prepares letters and keeps files in order. An accounts assistant helps with bills, payments and stock lists.
This is work you can do in an office, a shop, a school, a warehouse or a hospital. It needs care and patience more than strength. This page shows the jobs, where to find the official courses and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to join this field after service.
A good typing speed and few mistakes matter more than a long certificate.
This field suits people who like neat, careful work. You should be able to read and write clearly and do basic sums. Entry rules differ by course, so please read the entry rule on the official page of the course you choose.
You do not need a computer at home to start. Many centres give practice time. Please ask the centre how many hours you will get on a real computer. This is plain advice, not an official rule.
Some jobs, such as a government clerk post, come through exams with their own rules. Please read the official notice of each exam.
Yes, any Agniveer can. When you leave service you do not carry a trade with you, so nobody starts from a different place, and the branch you served in does not decide whether you can join. What decides it is the entry rule of the course you choose, which is shown on its official page.

There are four main types of work here. Tap any one to read more.
This person types information into forms, sheets and software. Speed and few mistakes matter. Banks, hospitals, schools, logistics firms and government offices hire data entry staff.
This person files papers, prepares letters, answers calls and helps the team. The person often uses word processing and spreadsheet software every day.
This person records bills and payments, checks stock lists and may use accounting software such as Tally. A short accounts course adds a lot to this job.
This person records goods coming in and going out of a store. It links well with warehouse and logistics work. See our Driving, Logistics and Delivery card.
Courses in this field sit on the National Qualifications Register (NQR), the government's official list of courses. The table gives names to look for. Open the official page to read the hours, the skill level and the entry rule yourself.
| Course to look for | What this person does | Official page |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic Data Entry Operator | Types and checks data in software | NQR: IT-ITeS list |
| Office or back-office assistant courses | Files, types, prepares letters, helps the team | NQR: Office Administration list |
| Accounts assistant courses | Records bills and payments | NQR: search by course name |
| Computer basics and office software courses | Uses a computer, the internet and office software | NQR: IT-ITeS list |
To find a course yourself, open the NQR page and choose the sector, or type the course name in the search box. Course names change from time to time, so use more than one search word. The skill level scale is called NSQF. It runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work.
Fees, batches and how to apply: we do not list fees or dates, because they differ by training centre and change often. We also do not copy hours, skill levels or entry rules here, because they change when a course file is renewed. Please open the official links below. Each course page shows its entry rule, its hours, its skill level and who gives the certificate.
What you study: these courses usually teach computer basics, typing, office software, how to file and keep records, how to write short letters and emails, and good work habits. Please read the topic list on the official course page.
Valid dates: every NQR course file shows a start date and a valid-till date. Please check these before you join, so you do not join a course that has ended or changed.
A course on the NQR carries a skill level on the national scale, and the certificate comes from a body named on the course page. Ask who gives the certificate before you pay.
For you as an Agniveer: the Government of India Cabinet release of 2022 says that on completing four years, an Agniveer is paid a one-time Seva Nidhi package, and that it is free of income tax. The same release says the skills an Agniveer gains are recorded in a certificate that forms part of the resume. The Seva Nidhi may help you pay for a course like this one. Please ask the training centre in writing whether your Agniveer service counts for entry into the course. You can read the release at pmindia.gov.in.
Office skills are useful in almost every sector. A person who can type well, use spreadsheets and keep clean records can move to retail, logistics, banking or healthcare offices.
This is a common path. Real steps depend on your employer and the courses you choose.
Some people start a small typing and form-filling centre in their area. They help people with online forms, printing and basic computer work. Check the local rules for any government form services.
Others work as freelance data entry or accounts helpers for small shops. Show clean sample work to win clients.
Loan schemes such as PMEGP and MUDRA exist for small businesses. Please read the scheme rules or ask a bank to learn if you qualify, before you plan around a loan.
For loans and training in general, see our Self-Employment and Loans card and our Free Govt Training card.
Use only official places. These include centres listed on Skill India Digital, training partners linked to NSDC and the IT-ITeS and other sector skill councils. A government ITI may run a computer course. Ask the centre how many hours you get on a real computer.
For fees, batches and how to apply, please use the official links in the Courses section above. Before you join, ask the centre for a written fee list. Also ask who will give the certificate.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
Basic reading and typing in English helps. Many jobs also use Hindi or a local language. Please read the course page and ask the centre.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
Employers differ. Ask the employer or read the job notice. Practice every day, and test yourself on free typing sites.
Tally is a private software product. Courses on it exist at many private centres. Government-listed courses sit on the NQR. Please check what a given certificate is worth to your employer.
Some data entry and accounts work can be done from home. Be careful, because many fake offers ask for a fee first. Never pay to get work.
Many entry jobs ask for a school pass certificate. Some ask for a degree. Read each job notice.
NSQF is the national scale for skills. It runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work. Each NQR course page shows its level.
Open nqr.gov.in, choose the sector or search the course name. The page shows who can join, the hours and who gives the certificate.
Sources: National Qualifications Register sector lists (nqr.gov.in); Government of India Cabinet release on the Agnipath scheme, 2022 (pmindia.gov.in). Course hours, skill levels and entry rules are not copied on this page. Please read them on the official pages before you join.
IT support means keeping computers, printers, networks and software working. A support technician fixes laptops, sets up Wi-Fi and helps people who are stuck. Cyber security means protecting computers and data from attack. An entry-level cyber job may watch alerts, check for weak points and help follow security rules.
This guide also covers mobile and electronics repair work, so the jobs and courses below cover both groups.
This field grows with every office and shop that uses computers. It needs patience, clear thinking and the habit of learning new things. This page shows the jobs, where to find the official courses and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to join this field after service.
Cyber security is not an entry job for most people. Build support skills first.
This field suits people who like to find faults and fix them step by step. You should be able to read English instructions on screen and explain a problem in simple words. Entry rules differ by course, so please read the entry rule on the official page.
You do not need to be a programmer. Many support jobs need hardware and network skills. This is plain advice, not an official rule.
Cyber security jobs often ask for experience in IT first. Please read the job notice and the entry rule of any cyber course before you pay.

This person fixes hardware faults, changes parts, installs software and cleans viruses. Repair shops, schools and small offices hire such staff. Many people later open a repair shop.
This person answers calls, chats or emails from users and solves problems step by step. Clear speaking and patience matter. Many companies and service firms hire support staff.
This person sets up and checks networks, Wi-Fi, routers and CCTV links in an office or building.
This person watches security alerts, checks for weak points and helps follow security rules. Most people reach this job after some years in IT support or networks.
This person changes screens, batteries and charging parts, fixes software faults and may do simple board-level work. Mobile shops and service centres hire technicians, and many people open their own shop.
This person repairs items such as washing machines, microwave ovens, mixers and water purifiers. This work often takes place at the customer's home. For air conditioners and fridges, see our Refrigeration and AC card.
This person fits cameras, wires and recorders and checks that they work. The work links to network skills. See our IT Support and Cyber Security card.
This person checks and repairs inverters, UPS units and batteries for homes and shops. It links well to our Solar and EV card.
Courses in this field sit on the National Qualifications Register (NQR), the government's official list of courses. The table gives names to look for. Open the official page to read the hours, the skill level and the entry rule yourself.

To find a course yourself, open the NQR page, choose the sector or type the course name in the search box. Telecom courses may sit in the Telecom list at nqr.gov.in.

What you study: these courses usually teach computer parts, installing an operating system, networks and Wi-Fi, how to fix common faults, how to talk to users and basic security habits. Please read the topic list on the official course page.
Valid dates: every NQR course file shows a start date and a valid-till date. Please check these before you join, so you do not join a course that has ended or changed.
A course on the NQR carries a skill level on the national scale, and the certificate comes from a body named on the course page. Private companies also offer their own certificates, such as network certificates from large vendors. These are not NQR courses. Ask which one your target employer wants.
IT skills move with you. Support skills help in banks, hospitals, factories and schools. Your discipline and habit of following procedure are useful in security work.
This is a common path. Real steps depend on your employer and the courses you choose.
Many people open a laptop and computer repair shop. Others offer home visits for setup, repair and Wi-Fi fixing. A small CCTV and network installation service is another choice.
Start with the skills you can do well and learn more as you earn. Keep records of every job.
These include centres listed on Skill India Digital, training partners linked to NSDC and the IT-ITeS sector skill council. A government ITI may run a computer hardware or network trade. Ask the centre how many hours you get on real machines.
For fees, batches and how to apply, please use the official links in the Courses section above. Before you join, ask the centre for a written fee list. Also ask who will give the certificate.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
For most people it is not a first job. Many reach it after support or network work. Start with support skills and build up.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
Support and network jobs do not need much coding. Cyber and system roles may need some scripting later. Read the job notice.
They are different. NQR courses carry a national skill level. Private certificates are often asked for by employers. Check what your target employer wants.
Some support jobs can be done remotely. Beware of fake offers that ask for a fee. Never pay to get work.
Yes, many people do. Start small, keep spare parts honest and give written bills.
NSQF is the national scale for skills. It runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work. Each NQR course page shows its level.
Open nqr.gov.in, choose the sector or search the course name. The page shows who can join, the hours and who gives the certificate.
It depends on the town, the rent and the tools. We do not give figures here. Visit a few shops and ask honest costs. Please read loan scheme rules before planning a loan.
Phones are everywhere, so repair demand continues. Skills must stay up to date, because models change fast.
Local rules differ. Ask your local authority or an expert about any shop licence.

Digital work means doing paid tasks with a computer and the internet. Examples are labelling data so that computers can learn, helping a shop sell online, making simple posts and designs, checking data in a sheet, and using AI tools to do office tasks faster. AI means software that can write, sort or predict from the data it has seen.
Entry jobs here are small and need good basics. AI tools help a worker, but they do not replace careful checking. Be careful with fake offers that promise big pay for an AI course. This page shows the jobs, where to find the official courses and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to join this field after service.
Basic skills come first. AI tools are easier to use when you can already do the work by hand.
This field suits people who are curious, patient and careful with details. You should be able to read English on screen and write short, clear sentences. Entry rules differ by course, so please read the entry rule on the official page.
You do not need to be a programmer for most entry jobs. Some roles, such as data analyst, use more maths and software. This is plain advice, not an official rule.
Please check any course that sells an AI job guarantee. Government-listed courses on the NQR do not promise jobs.
There are four main types of work here. Tap any one to read more.
This person tags images, text or sound so that AI systems can learn from them, and checks that others tagged them correctly. Work needs care and steady attention. Be careful of firms that ask you to pay first.
This person helps a business post online, answer messages and run simple ads. Local shops and small firms often need this help. Learn how to read simple results, such as how many people saw a post.
This person cleans data in a spreadsheet, makes simple charts and writes a short summary. It needs good spreadsheet skills and some maths. Many people reach it from an office or data entry job.
Many offices now use AI tools to draft letters, summarise documents or answer common questions. A person who can use these tools well and check their output carefully is useful. This is an added skill, not a job on its own.
Courses in this field sit on the National Qualifications Register (NQR), the government's official list of courses. The table gives names to look for. Open the official page to read the hours, the skill level and the entry rule yourself.
| Course to look for | What this person does | Official page |
|---|---|---|

| Digital marketing courses | Helps a business sell and post online | NQR: IT-ITeS list |
| Artificial intelligence and data science courses | Learns the basics of data and AI tools | NQR: IT-ITeS list |
| Digital literacy and computer basics courses | Uses a computer and the internet safely | Skill India Digital |
To find a course yourself, open the NQR page and choose the IT-ITeS sector, or type the course name in the search box. New course names appear often in this field, so search with more than one word. The skill level scale is called NSQF. It runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work.

Digital skills help in many fields, such as banking, healthcare, logistics and retail. Even if you do not take a digital job, you can use these skills to work faster in any job.
This is a common path. Real steps depend on your employer and the courses you choose.
Some people offer simple digital help to local shops, such as posting offers, making simple designs and handling online orders. Start with one or two clients and show them clear results.
Others do freelance data entry or data checking. Never pay a fee to get work, and be careful with unknown payment links.
Loan schemes such as PMEGP and MUDRA exist for small businesses. Please read the scheme rules or ask a bank to learn if you qualify, before you plan around a loan.
For loans and training in general, see our Self-Employment and Loans card and our Free Govt Training card.

For fees, batches and how to apply, please use the official links in the Courses section above. Before you join, ask the centre for a written fee list. Also ask who will give the certificate.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
No course can promise a job. A course gives you skills. Jobs depend on your work, your samples and the market. Be careful of anyone who promises a job for a fee.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
Not for most entry jobs. Data analyst and AI roles may need some. Check the course page and the job notice.
AI tools change how work is done. People who check AI output carefully and know the real work stay useful. Learn the basics and the tools together.
Many courses on it are free, but please check each course page for any fee.
It means tagging data, such as marking objects in a picture, so that a computer can learn. The work needs care. Check that the firm is genuine.
NSQF is the national scale for skills. It runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work. Each NQR course page shows its level.
Open nqr.gov.in, choose the IT-ITeS sector or search the course name. The page shows who can join, the hours and who gives the certificate.

Soft skills are the habits that help you work well with people. They include speaking clearly, listening, working in a team, leading a small group, keeping time and handling stress. Job readiness means being ready to find and keep a job. It covers a resume, an interview, basic computer skills and simple workplace rules.
Your service has already built many of these habits. The task is to show them in civil words. This page shows how, where to find the official courses and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to join civil work after service.
Many skill courses already include a job-readiness part. Look for it when you choose a course.
This topic is for every Agniveer. You do not need a school pass certificate to learn how to write a resume or to speak clearly. You do need practice.
If your English is weak, start with simple daily practice. Read short news, speak aloud and write five lines a day. This is plain advice, not an official rule.
Employers hire for habits as well as skills. A person who comes on time, follows safety rules and speaks politely is easy to hire.
Yes, any Agniveer can. When you leave service you do not carry a trade with you, so nobody starts from a different place, and the branch you served in does not decide whether you can join. What decides it is the entry rule of the course you choose, which is shown on its official page.
These schemes and skills are open to every Agniveer who meets the rule of the scheme or course. Nobody needs a particular branch or trade from service. What you learned in service, such as discipline, teamwork and hard work, will help you whichever path you choose.
Choose the course first, and then read its entry rule on the official page before you pay any fee.
There are four main types of work here. Tap any one to read more.
This person guides a small team, shares tasks and reports to a manager. Leading a section in service is close to this. The skill to practise is clear instructions and fair treatment.
Shops, banks, hospitals and hotels need staff who speak politely and handle complaints calmly. See our Retail, Sales and Customer Service card.
This person teaches a skill to others. Service trainers move into corporate training, drill and safety training. Clear speaking and patience matter.
Good soft skills do not make a job on their own, but they help you pass interviews, work well with seniors and get promoted. They add value to every other card on this site.
Soft skills are taught inside many courses and on their own. You can look on the National Qualifications Register (NQR), the government's official list of courses, and on Skill India Digital. The table gives names to look for. Open the official page to read the hours, the skill level and the entry rule yourself.
| Course to look for | What this person does | Official page |
|---|---|---|
| Employability or job-readiness skills | Teaches resume, interview and workplace habits | Skill India Digital |
| Spoken English and communication courses | Builds speaking and writing for work | NQR: search by course name |
| Digital literacy and computer basics | Uses a computer and the internet safely | Skill India Digital |
| Customer service and team lead courses | Handles customers and leads a small team | NQR: search by course name |
To find a course yourself, open Skill India Digital or the NQR page, and type words such as employability, communication or customer service in the search box. Many trade courses include a job-readiness part, so look at the topic list of any course you plan to join. The skill level scale is called NSQF. It runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work.

What you study: soft skill courses usually teach how to speak and write clearly, how to write a resume, how to face an interview, how to work in a team, basic computer use and good workplace habits. Please read the topic list on the official course page.
Valid dates: every NQR course file shows a start date and a valid-till date. Please check these before you join, so you do not join a course that has ended or changed.
A course on the NQR carries a skill level on the national scale, and the certificate comes from a body named on the course page. Free courses on Skill India Digital can add useful practice. Ask who gives each certificate.

Soft skills multiply the value of every trade skill. Two electricians with the same certificate can have very different careers, because one can explain a job to a customer and the other cannot.
This is a simple path to follow in your last year of service and after.
Some people turn their soft skills into work as a trainer, a coach for interview practice or a team supervisor for a contractor. These need some experience first.
If you plan to run your own business, strong communication helps you win customers and manage workers.
Skill India Digital lists courses from the government. Training partners linked to NSDC and sector skill councils also teach job-readiness skills inside trade courses. Many private coaches teach English and interview skills. Ask for a trial class and a written fee before you pay.
For fees, batches and how to apply, please use the official links in the Courses section above. Before you join, ask the centre for a written fee list. Also ask who will give the certificate.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
Not always. Employers see your skills in the interview and the first weeks of work. A certificate can help as proof, but practice matters more.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
Use civil words.
Practise every day. Read short news, speak aloud and write five lines. Join a spoken English course from a known centre.
Many trade courses include one. Check the topic list on the course page.
Many are free, but please check each course page for any fee.
NSQF is the national scale for skills. It runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work. Each NQR course page shows its level.

Healthcare work means caring for sick or hurt people and supporting the team that treats them. A general duty assistant helps nurses with patient care. An ambulance assistant gives first help and moves patients. A lab or X-ray technician helps doctors with tests. Emergency work means acting fast and calmly when someone is in danger.
This work needs kindness, clean habits and the ability to stay calm. Patients depend on you, so training matters. Some roles, such as a registered nurse or a registered pharmacist, need a licensed degree or diploma and registration with a council. A short course does not replace this. This page shows the jobs, where to find the official courses and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to join this field after service.
Check whether a role needs registration with a council. A short course may not be enough.
This field suits people who are kind, clean and calm. You should be able to follow care steps exactly and write simple notes. Entry rules differ by course, so please read the entry rule on the official page of the course you choose.
The work can be tiring and may need night shifts. Good health and a strong stomach help. This is plain advice, not an official rule.
Higher roles such as nurse, pharmacist and lab technician need a recognised course, and some need registration. Please check the rules of the exact job.

Valid dates: every NQR course file shows a start date and a valid-till date. Please check these before you join, so you do not join a course that has ended or changed.
A course on the NQR carries a skill level on the national scale, and the certificate comes from a body named on the course page. Hospitals value a recognised certificate along with hands-on practice. Ask where you will get supervised practice in a real ward.
For you as an Agniveer: the Government of India Cabinet release of 2022 says that on completing four years, an Agniveer is paid a one-time Seva Nidhi package, and that it is free of income tax. Healthcare jobs are needed in every town. Your service medical training, and your habit of staying calm, are strong points. Some roles also need a recognised diploma or degree, so plan any extra study early.
This is a common path. Real steps depend on your employer, your course and the rules of the council for each role.
Some people start a small home care or patient transport service after gaining experience. Others open a clinic support service, such as a sample collection point, once they have the right training and any needed registration.
Healthcare work has legal rules. Please read the official rules and ask an expert before you start a service of your own.
Loan schemes such as PMEGP and MUDRA exist for small businesses. Please read the scheme rules or ask a bank to learn if you qualify, before you plan around a loan.

Five questions to ask the training centre:
A registered nurse needs a recognised nursing diploma or degree and registration. A short course can lead to an assistant role. Please read the rules of the nursing council.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
A registered pharmacist needs a recognised pharmacy qualification and registration. Pharmacy assistant roles may need less. Please check the exact rules.
Whether a course counts your service is up to the centre. Please ask in writing.
Hospital and ambulance work often runs round the clock. Ask any employer about shifts before you join.
Home care can be a steady choice, especially for older people. Ask any agency about pay, hours and who is responsible for safety.
NSQF is the national scale for skills. It runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work. Each NQR course page shows its level.

Banking and finance work means handling money, accounts and payments for people and businesses. A bank correspondent is a person who offers simple bank services in a village or a town area on behalf of a bank. An accounts assistant records bills and payments. An insurance agent helps people buy cover for health, life or vehicles.
This work needs honesty above all. Money mistakes can hurt people. Many roles also follow strict rules. This page shows the jobs, where to find the official courses and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to join this field after service.
Bank clerk and officer jobs come through exams and need a degree. Support roles are the usual start.
This field suits people who are honest, careful and good with numbers. You should be able to do basic sums, read forms and explain things simply. Entry rules differ by course, so please read the entry rule on the official page of the course you choose.
Selling insurance needs a licence from the insurance regulator (IRDAI), with its own training and exam. Please read the official rules before you plan around this job.
Bank clerk and officer posts come through public exams. They have their own age and study rules. Please read each official notice.

This person records bills and payments, checks totals and prepares simple reports. Accounting software such as Tally is often used. Shops, factories and offices hire accounts assistants.
This person helps people choose cover and fills the forms. A licence from the insurance regulator is needed. Honest advice matters, because people trust you with their family's safety.
This person helps customers fill forms for loans and collects documents. The role needs clear speaking and accuracy. Check that the firm is genuine before you join.

What you study: finance courses usually teach how a bank account works, how to handle cash and forms, basic accounts, digital payments, customer care and how to stay safe from fraud. Please read the topic list on the official course page.
Valid dates: every NQR course file shows a start date and a valid-till date. Please check these before you join, so you do not join a course that has ended or changed.
A course on the NQR carries a skill level on the national scale, and the certificate comes from a body named on the course page. Some money jobs also need a separate licence or exam from the regulator. A course certificate does not replace that. Ask which papers the job needs.
For you as an Agniveer: the Government of India Cabinet release of 2022 says that on completing four years, an Agniveer is paid a one-time Seva Nidhi package, and that it is free of income tax. Please ask the training centre in writing whether your Agniveer service counts for entry into the course. You can read the release at pmindia.gov.in.
Money skills help you in every part of life. Many Agniveers will have their own Seva Nidhi to manage, and a finance course can help you plan it well. This page is not financial advice, so please ask a qualified person about your own money.
This is a common path. Real steps depend on your employer, your course and any exam for the job.
Some people become a business correspondent in their own area, after getting an agreement from a bank. Others work as a small accounts helper for local shops, or help people fill government and bank forms.
Please be careful with any plan that asks you to pay a large fee to a firm before work starts. Ask the bank in writing for the exact terms.
These include centres listed on Skill India Digital, training partners linked to NSDC and the BFSI sector skill council. Banks themselves sometimes run training for correspondents. Ask for a written fee and a written agreement before you pay.
For fees, batches and how to apply, please use the official links in the Courses section above. Before you join, ask the centre for a written fee list. Also ask who will give the certificate.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
Bank clerk jobs come through public exams and have their own rules for age and study. Please read each official notice.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
Yes, an insurance agent needs a licence from the insurance regulator. Please read the official rules and training steps.
It can be a steady job, but terms depend on the bank. Please ask for written terms and do not invest large sums without a clear agreement.
Accounts jobs often use accounting software. Ask the employer what they use.
A finance course can build general money knowledge. For your own plans, please ask a qualified adviser.
NSQF is the national scale for skills. It runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work. Each NQR course page shows its level.
Open nqr.gov.in, choose the BFSI list or search the course name. The page shows who can join, the hours and who gives the certificate.

Construction work means building and repairing houses, roads and other structures. Home work here means fixing and finishing homes: laying tiles, painting walls, fitting pipes and making doors and furniture. A mason builds walls with brick and cement. A plumber fits and repairs pipes. A painter finishes walls. A carpenter works with wood.
This work is hard and uses the body, but it also gives steady demand and a clear path to your own work. Safety matters a lot, because falls, cuts and heavy loads cause injuries. This page shows the jobs, where to find the official courses and the next steps for an Agniveer who wants to join this field after service.
Pick one trade and become good at it first. Then add more.
This field suits people who like to build and fix with their hands and can work outdoors. You should be able to read a simple drawing, measure and do basic sums. Entry rules differ by course, so please read the entry rule on the official page of the course you choose.
Safety gear and safe habits matter. Working at height, with power tools or on wet floors needs training. This is plain advice, not an official rule.
Site supervisor and engineer roles often ask for a diploma or a degree. Please check the entry rule of each course.
There are four main types of work here. Tap any one to read more.

Please ask the training centre in writing whether your Agniveer service counts for entry into the course. You can read the release at pmindia.gov.in.
Site work teaches by doing. Ask the centre how many hours are practical and where you will practise on a real site or workshop. Your habit of following safety steps is a strong plus here.
This is a common path. Real steps depend on your employer and your skills.

Hotel and kitchen work means looking after guests with food, rooms and service. Cooks and bakers prepare food. Stewards serve it. Front office staff greet guests and check them in. Housekeeping staff keep rooms, halls and corridors clean and ready. Maintenance and grounds staff keep a building working and its garden tidy.
This work is done in hotels, restaurants, canteens, hospitals, offices, schools and large housing societies. It needs a neat look, a calm voice and a habit of working in a team more than it needs a degree. Many Agniveers have already worked in a mess, a kitchen or a store, so the daily routine may feel familiar. After four years of service, this field may offer a first step into civil work.
Example path: first a short course, then a first job in a kitchen or on a service floor, then a higher course for a senior role.
This field suits people who are neat and polite and can stand for long hours. You should be able to read and write simply and follow written orders. Entry rules differ by course, so please read the entry rule on the official page of the course you choose.
Hotel work often means shifts, weekends and festival days. Kitchen work can be hot and fast. Some roles, such as front office associate, need clear speech in English or Hindi. This is plain advice, not an official rule.
Food work asks for clean habits, such as washing hands and wearing a clean uniform. Please ask the centre what hygiene training it gives.
Yes, any Agniveer can. When you leave service you do not carry a trade with you, so nobody starts from a different place, and the branch you served in does not decide whether you can join. What decides it is the entry rule of the course you choose, which is shown on its official page.

There are six main types of work here. Tap any one to read more.
A commis chef is a helper in a hotel kitchen. The person cuts and prepares food, keeps the work table clean and learns recipes from senior cooks. A cook prepares dishes in a restaurant, canteen or mess. Kitchen work needs clean habits, speed and care with knives and heat.
A steward serves food and drinks at tables, in a banquet hall or in a canteen. The person lays tables, takes orders and keeps the service area clean. Polite speech and a neat look matter in this role.
This person greets guests, checks them in and out, answers calls and handles room keys and bills. The role needs clear speech, basic computer use and a calm manner. Please read the entry rule in each job notice.
A bakery assistant helps make bread, cakes and snacks. The person weighs items, mixes dough and cleans machines and trays. Work often starts early in the day, so please ask about shift times.
This person cleans rooms, changes linen, refills supplies and reports damage or lost items. The work needs care, honesty and steady effort. Hotels, hospitals and offices all use housekeeping staff.
This group includes building maintenance technician, pest control worker, garden and landscape worker and facility supervisor. They keep a building safe and working. A supervisor plans the day for a small team. Supervisor roles usually come after some years of work, and some may need more than 12th pass, so please read each job notice. Pest control uses chemicals, so ask about safety training.

Hotel and kitchen skills are used in many places, not only hotels. Hospitals, offices, factories, schools and large events also need cooks, servers and housekeeping staff.
This is a common path. Real steps depend on your employer and the courses you choose.
Some people start a small tiffin service, a snack stall, a bakery counter or a catering team for events. Food businesses have licence and hygiene rules. Please ask the local food safety office what you need before you start.
Others start a cleaning and housekeeping service for homes, offices and small buildings. Begin with a few clients, keep clear records and use a written agreement.
Loan schemes such as PMEGP and MUDRA exist for small businesses. Please read each scheme's own page, or ask a bank, to learn whether your work qualifies, before you plan around a loan.
For loans and training in general, see our Self-Employment and Loans card and our Free Govt Training card.
Use only official places. These include centres listed on Skill India Digital, training partners linked to NSDC, government ITIs and the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council. THSC also has a training partner list and an apprenticeship page on its website.
Ask the centre how many hours are practical, and whether the kitchen or service floor is real or only a classroom copy. For fees, batches and how to apply, please use the official links in the Courses section above. Ask for a written fee list before you join.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
Many entry roles, such as helper, steward and housekeeping attendant, may not ask for a degree. Higher roles may ask for more. Entry rules differ by employer and by course, so please read the job notice and the course page before you apply or pay any fee to a training centre.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
Not always. Many hotels and kitchens use Hindi or a local language every day. English helps with guests from other places, and front office jobs usually need it more. A short spoken English or communication course may help you move up. Please read each job notice for its language needs.
It can be. Many housekeeping roles may not ask for a special trade, and the training can be short. The work needs honesty, care and steady effort. Ask the centre what practical training it gives, and read the entry rule on the course page before you decide.
Check that the course is on the NQR, who gives the certificate, and how many hours you cook in a real kitchen. Ask for the fee in writing. Do not accept a job promise. Read the valid dates on the course page before you join, so the course is not out of date.
Yes, so be careful. Some people ask for money to give a hotel job, a ship job or a job abroad. A real employer or training centre does not need you to pay for a job. Never pay anyone for a job, and always check who gives the certificate.
Open the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council website or the NQR page, then search the course name. The course page shows who can join, the hours and the skill level. Fees and batch dates come from the training centre, so ask for them in writing before you join.

Textile work means making cloth from thread. Garment work means making clothes from cloth. A garment factory cuts cloth, sews the parts, checks the quality, presses the clothes and packs them. Machine operators do most of the sewing. Quality checkers look for faults. Finishing and packing staff get the clothes ready to ship.
This work is done in factories, workshops and export units. It needs steady hands, good eyesight and the habit of working at a set pace more than it needs a degree. The work is often done in teams on a production line. For an Agniveer leaving after four years, it may be a way into factory work with a clear daily routine.
Example path: first a short machine course, then a first job on a production line, then a higher course for checking or supervisor work.
This field suits people who are patient and neat and can sit or stand at a task for long hours. Good eyesight helps, because sewing and checking need close work. Entry rules differ by course, so please read the entry rule on the official page of the course you choose.
Factory work follows a daily target, and you may work in shifts. Please ask the employer about working hours and safety rules. This is plain advice, not an official rule.
Cutting and sewing machines can cause injury if used without care. Please ask the centre what safety training it gives before you pay.
Yes, any Agniveer can. When you leave service you do not carry a trade with you, so nobody starts from a different place, and the branch you served in does not decide whether you can join. What decides it is the entry rule of the course you choose, which is shown on its official page.

This page covers factory work. Tailoring in a small shop is a different kind of work and is not covered here. There are four main types of factory work. Tap any one to read more.
This person sews parts of a garment on an industrial sewing machine, such as seams, sleeves or collars. Speed and clean stitches matter. An operator usually works on one step of the line and passes the work on to the next person.
This person runs other garment machines, such as cutting or pressing machines, depending on the unit. The person follows set steps, keeps the machine clean and reports faults to the supervisor.
This person checks cloth and finished clothes for faults such as wrong stitches, stains or size errors. The person marks the faults and sends the piece back to be fixed. Careful eyes and honest reporting matter most.
This person trims loose threads, presses or folds clothes, adds tags and packs them into boxes. Care and counting matter, because wrong counts cause delays. This role is often a good first step into a unit.
Courses in this field sit on the National Qualifications Register (NQR), the government's official list of courses. The Apparel, Made-ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council and the Textile Sector Skill Council are the sector skill councils for this work. Machine and checking skills are used in many factories, not only in clothing. Bag, bedsheet, uniform and cloth units also need operators and checkers.
This is a common path. Real steps depend on your employer and the courses you choose.
Some people start a small unit that sews simple items on order, such as uniforms, bags or bedsheets. Others start a finishing and packing unit for a nearby factory. Begin with small orders and keep clear records of cloth, work and payments.
Small units have rules about workers and safety. Please ask your district industries office what you need before you start.

Five questions to ask the training centre:
Usually not. Entry courses teach the basics from the start. Entry rules differ by course, so please read the entry rule on the course page and ask the centre how many hours you get on a real machine.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. Often, yes. Many garment units run set shifts to meet a daily target. Some work extra hours near an order date. Please ask the employer in writing about shift times, rest days and pay before you accept an offer, and keep a copy of what they tell you.
Some small sewing and finishing work can be done at home. Be careful, because many fake offers ask for a fee first and then give no work. Never pay anyone to get home work, and ask for the agreement in writing before you start.
Textile work makes cloth from thread, in spinning, weaving and knitting units. Garment work turns cloth into clothes, with cutting, sewing, checking, pressing and packing. The two fields have different sector skill councils, so check which council owns the course you are looking at.
Ask whether the course is on the NQR, who gives the certificate, and how many hours you work on a real machine. Ask for the fee in writing. Do not accept a job promise. Read the valid dates on the course page before you join the batch.
Open the NQR page and search the course name. The course page shows who can join, the hours and the skill level. You can also look up the sector skill council named on the page. Fees and batch dates come from the training centre, so ask for them in writing.

Telecom work keeps phone, internet and cable networks running. Technicians install and repair mobile towers, fibre cables, routers and the small boxes placed in homes and shops. Field engineers visit sites to find and fix faults. Network installers join cables and test the signal.
This work is done outdoors and indoors, in cities and in villages. It needs safe habits, basic electrical and computer sense and a willingness to travel to sites. Some tasks are done at height or beside roads, so safety training matters a great deal. For an Agniveer, signal and radio duty may make this field feel familiar.
Example path: first a short course, then a first job as an installer or helper, then a higher course for a field engineer role.
This field suits people who like practical work and can learn simple electrical and computer ideas. You should be able to read a work order and write a short report. Entry rules differ by course, so please read the entry rule on the official page of the course you choose.
Tower and cable work can be done at height or near roads and power lines. Please ask the centre what safety training and equipment it gives, and what the course page says about physical fitness. This is plain advice, not an official rule.
Many field jobs need you to travel to sites. A driving licence may help, but please read each job notice for its own rule.
There are five main types of work here. Tap any one to read more.
A tower technician installs and maintains equipment on mobile towers and rooftops. The work is done at height, so safety gear and safety training matter. Please ask about the training before you join.
A fibre optic technician lays and joins fibre cables and tests that the signal passes through. The work needs steady hands, patience and care with thin cables.
A network installer sets up cables, routers and switches in offices, shops and homes. The person tests the link and shows the customer that it works.
A field engineer visits sites to find and fix faults in a network. This role often asks for more than 12th pass and some years of work. Please read the job notice for the entry rule.
Customer premises equipment means the modem, router or set-top box placed at a customer home or shop. The technician fits it, checks the signal and explains how to use it. Clear speech and a polite manner matter, because the work is done in front of the customer.
Courses in this field sit on the National Qualifications Register (NQR), the government's official list of courses. The Telecom Sector Skill Council is the sector skill council for telecom work. Please check its current name on its own website. The table gives names to look for. Open the official page to read the hours, the skill level and the entry rule yourself.
| Course to look for | What this person does | Official page |
|---|---|---|
| Tower technician courses | Installs and maintains equipment on telecom towers | NQR: search by course name |
| Optical fibre technician courses | Lays, joins and tests fibre cables | NQR: search by course name |
| Network installer courses | Sets up cables, routers and switches | NQR: search by course name |
| Customer premises equipment installation courses | Fits and tests modems, routers and set-top boxes | NQR: search by course name |
To find a course yourself, open the NQR page and type the course name in the search box. Course names change from time to time, so use more than one search word, such as "telecom", "fibre", "tower" or "broadband".
Fees, batches and how to apply: we do not list fees or dates, because they differ by training centre and change often. Please open the official links below. The course page shows the hours, the skill level and who can join.
What you study: these courses usually teach safe work at height, how to handle and join cables, how to test a signal, how to talk to customers, and how to write a short work report.
Telecom skills are useful in many places. Internet service firms, cable operators, tower companies, office networks and security camera work all use people who can join and test cables. See our IT Support, Mobile and Cyber card for related work.
This is a common path. Real steps depend on your employer and the courses you choose.
Some people start a small business that installs broadband and cable connections for a local provider, or a repair and fitting service for homes and shops. Work with a written agreement and keep a record of every site visit.
Tower and cable work has safety rules. Please ask the company you work with what permits and safety gear are needed before you start.
These include centres listed on Skill India Digital, training partners linked to NSDC, government ITIs and the Telecom Sector Skill Council.
Ask the centre how much of the course is practical, and whether you work on real cables and equipment. For fees, batches and how to apply, please use the official links in the Courses section above. Ask for a written fee list before you join.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
Not for every role. Installer and helper roles may ask for a school pass certificate, while field engineer roles often ask for more. Entry rules differ by employer and by course, so please read the job notice and the entry rule on the official course page before you decide.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
Work at height has real risk. Safety training, a proper harness and trained supervisors reduce it, but they do not remove it. Please ask the centre and the employer what safety training and equipment they give, and do not climb without that training.
Often, yes. Installers and field engineers visit homes, shops and tower sites. Some roles ask you to ride a vehicle or work in other towns. Please read each job notice for travel needs, and ask the employer in writing whether travel costs are paid.
CPE stands for customer premises equipment. It means the modem, router or set-top box that sits at a customer home or shop. A CPE technician fits this equipment, checks the signal and explains how to use it. Several courses on the NQR cover this work.
Yes, so be careful. Some people ask for money to give a tower or cable job. A real employer or training centre does not need you to pay for a job. Never pay anyone for a job, and always check who gives the certificate.
Open the NQR page and search the course name. The course page shows who can join, the hours and the skill level. It also names who gives the certificate. Fees and batch dates come from the training centre, so ask for them in writing before you join.

Factory work means making goods in a plant. Assembly operators fit parts together. Machine operators run machines that cut, press or shape material. Packaging operators pack the finished goods. Quality checkers test that each item is right. Production helpers carry material and keep the line running.
Mining and oil and gas work is a related field. Mine operators and drill and rig assistants work at remote sites. Heavy equipment operators drive large machines, and mine safety assistants watch for risks. These jobs need extra safety training. For an Agniveer, years of discipline and equipment duty may make this field feel familiar.
Example path: first a short course, then a first job on a line or at a site, then a higher course for a senior or safety role.
This field suits people who can follow set steps, work in a team and stay careful for long hours. You should be able to read a work order and a safety sign. Entry rules differ by course, so please read the entry rule on the official page of the course you choose.
Factory work is often done in shifts. Mining and oil and gas sites may be far from towns, and work there may mean living at the site. Please ask the employer in writing about shifts, living and travel. This is plain advice, not an official rule.
Some roles, such as heavy equipment operator, may need a driving or operator licence. Some mining roles may need special permits or more than 12th pass. Please read each job notice for its own rule.

An assembly operator fits parts together by hand or with simple tools, following a set order. A production helper carries material, feeds the line and keeps the work area clean. Both roles need care, a steady pace and the habit of following steps.
A machine operator runs a machine that cuts, presses, moulds or shapes material. The person loads the machine, watches the process, keeps it clean and reports faults. Safe use of the machine comes first.
A packaging operator packs finished goods into boxes or packets, adds labels and counts the items. Care and counting matter, because wrong counts cause delays. This role is often a first step into a unit.
A quality checker tests items against a set standard, using simple gauges, a visual check or a test sheet. The person marks faults and sends faulty items back. Honest reporting and attention to small details matter most.
These roles support work at mines and at oil and gas sites. A drill or rig assistant helps the main crew with tools, pipes and set-up. A mine operator runs machines or processes in a mine. The work can be hard and remote, and it needs safety training. Some roles may need more than 12th pass, so please read each job notice.
A heavy equipment operator drives and controls large machines at a site. A mine safety assistant checks that people follow safety rules and reports risks. These roles may need an operator licence or special training. Please ask the centre and the employer what is required.
Courses in this field sit on the National Qualifications Register (NQR), the government's official list of courses. Several sector skill councils cover this work, among them the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India, the Capital Goods Skill Council, a mining sector skill council, the Hydrocarbon Sector Skill Council and a council for plastics and packaging. Please check the current name of each council on its own website. The table gives names to look for.
| Course to look for | What this person does | Official page |
|---|---|---|
| Assembly operator courses | Fits parts together following a set order | NQR: search by course name |
| Machine operator courses | Runs and cleans production machines | NQR: search by course name |
| Packaging and quality checker courses | Packs goods and checks them against a standard | NQR: search by course name |
| Mining and oil and gas support courses | Helps at mine, drilling and rig sites with safe work | NQR: search by course name |
To find a course yourself, open the NQR page and type the course name in the search box. Course names change from time to time, so use more than one search word, such as "assembly", "machine operator", "packaging", "mining" or "rig".
Fees, batches and how to apply: we do not list fees or dates, because they differ by training centre and change often. Please open the official links below. The course page shows the hours, the skill level and who can join.
What you study: these courses usually teach safe use of tools and machines, how to read a work order or drawing, how to check quality, and how to work with a team. Mining and oil and gas courses may also teach site safety.
Factory skills move easily between industries. A person who can follow steps, work safely and keep a clean line may find work in electronics, packaging, vehicle parts and many other units.
This is a common path. Real steps depend on your employer and the courses you choose.
Some people start a small unit that does one step for a larger factory, such as packing, assembly of simple parts or finishing work. Begin with one client, a written agreement and clear records of material and payments.
Small units have rules about workers, safety and waste. Please ask your district industries office what you need before you start. Mining and oil and gas work is controlled by strict rules, so it is not a field to start on your own.
These include centres listed on Skill India Digital, training partners linked to NSDC, government ITIs and the sector skill councils named above.
Ask the centre how many hours you get on real machines or equipment. For fees, batches and how to apply, please use the official links in the Courses section above. Ask for a written fee list before you join.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
Not for every role. Helper, packer and assembly roles may ask only for a school pass certificate. Machine operator and fitter roles may ask for an ITI or a skill course. Entry rules differ by employer, so please read each job notice and the course page.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
No. Some roles, such as drill assistant, rig assistant and equipment operator, may not ask for a degree. Others, such as mine engineer, do. The work needs safety training and may need permits. Please read each job notice and ask the centre what the course page says.
Often, yes. Many factories run day and night shifts to meet targets. Mining and oil and gas sites may also run long shifts and keep staff at the site. Please ask the employer in writing about shifts, rest days, living and pay before you accept an offer.
A machine operator runs a machine to make a product. A fitter keeps machines in good order by checking, fixing and replacing parts. Fitter roles usually ask for more training. Many people begin as operators and then add maintenance skills through a higher course.
Yes, so be careful. Some people ask for money to give a factory, mine or rig job, especially abroad.

Free Govt Training means skill courses that the Government of India or a state government pays for. You do not pay a fee for the training itself. These courses teach a job skill in a few weeks or months, and many end with a certificate. Examples are short courses under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), trade courses at an ITI, apprenticeship in a company and residential training at an RSETI.
Free does not always mean everything is free. Some schemes pay for the training, the test and the certificate. Others may not pay for travel, food or a kit. This page shows the main schemes, where to register and what to ask before you join. It is written for an Agniveer who wants a new skill after service.
Schemes, batches and entry rules change. Read them on the official page before you join.
Free training schemes are open to people who meet the entry rule of each scheme. The rule may ask for an age range, a school pass level or a home area. Please read the entry rule on the official page of the scheme you choose.
Some schemes, such as RSETI and DDU-GKY, are made for rural youth. DDU-GKY is meant for poor rural youth. If you live in a town, or your family does not meet the rule, you may not qualify. Ask the centre in writing before you plan around it.
An Agniveer leaves service in the early twenties, so the age limit of most youth schemes should not be a problem. This is plain advice, not an official rule. Please check the age limit of each scheme.
There are six main routes. Tap any one to read more.
PMKVY is the flagship skill scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, run through NSDC. NSDC says that eligible candidates get training, testing and a certificate at no cost under PMKVY 4.0. You register on the Skill India Digital portal, pick a course and join a batch run by an approved training centre.
Some centres ask for a minimum attendance, so please read their rule. The scheme runs in phases and its dates change. Please check the portal to see which batches are open now.
An ITI gives longer trade courses, such as electrician, fitter or computer operator. Passing the trade test gives a National Trade Certificate. Fees and seats differ by state and by ITI, so please ask the ITI what you must pay. The Ministry of Defence has said that the Directorate General of Training (DGT) will help award this certificate to Agniveers.
An apprentice learns on the job in a company and gets a stipend from the employer. You pay no fee to learn. Under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), the Government of India shares part of the stipend with the employer. Register on the Apprenticeship India portal and look for companies near you.
An RSETI gives short residential courses that prepare you to start your own work. Training is free, and food and stay are given at the centre. Courses run from about one to six weeks and cover trades such as tailoring, mobile repair, dairy and food processing. The usual age range is 18 to 45. The institute also helps you reach a bank for a loan after the course. Your lead bank in the district runs the RSETI.
Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana is run by the Ministry of Rural Development. It trains poor rural youth, usually aged 15 to 35, and helps with placement after training. Please check on the official page whether you meet the rule.
The Ministry of Defence has signed agreements with NIOS for a 12th class certificate and with IGNOU for a bachelor's degree for Agniveers. The Ministry of Education has said that half of the credits for the IGNOU skill-based degree come from skill training in service. Agniveer job roles have also been mapped to National Occupational Standards. Rules differ by service. Please ask your unit or education officer what you can use.
Most free courses are listed on Skill India Digital, and many sit on the National Qualifications Register (NQR), the government's official list of courses. The table gives the places to start. Open the official page to read the entry rule, the hours and the skill level yourself.
| Place | What you do there | Official page |
|---|---|---|
| Skill India Digital | Register, search free short courses and find batches | Skill India Digital |
| National Qualifications Register | Check a course: level, hours and who gives the certificate | NQR: search all courses |
| DGT (ITI and trade tests) | Find ITI trades and trade test details | dgt.gov.in |
| Apprenticeship India | Register as an apprentice and find companies | apprenticeshipindia.gov.in |
| RSETI | Find the institute run by your district lead bank | NIRD: RSETI information |
| DDU-GKY | Check the rule and find centres | ddugky.gov.in |
| NIOS and IGNOU | 12th class certificate and degree for Agniveers | nios.ac.in and ignou.ac.in |
Fees, batches and how to apply: we do not list fees or dates, because they differ by training centre and change often. We also do not copy hours, skill levels or entry rules here, because they change when a scheme or course file is renewed. Please use the official links below.
What free should cover: under PMKVY, NSDC lists free training, free testing and certification, and a free uniform and induction kit. Other schemes differ. Before you join, ask the centre to write down what is free and what you must pay for yourself, such as travel, food or exam fees.
Valid dates: every NQR course file shows a start date and a valid-till date. Please check these before you join, so you do not join a course that has ended or changed.
A course on Skill India Digital or the NQR carries a skill level on the national scale, and the certificate comes from a body named on the course page. This is better than a certificate from a shop with no name. Always ask who gives the certificate. Many certificates are now digital, so please keep a saved copy.
A free course means you keep more of your Seva Nidhi for other needs, such as starting a business. You can read the release at pmindia.gov.in.
Please ask each centre in writing whether your Agniveer service counts for entry into the course.
This is a common path. Real steps depend on the scheme and the courses you choose.
RSETI is made for people who want to start their own work. It trains you for a trade, and then helps you reach a bank. Other free courses also help, because a certificate shows a bank that you know the work.
Loan schemes such as PMEGP and MUDRA exist for small businesses. Please read the scheme rules or ask a bank to learn if you qualify, before you plan around a loan.
For loans in detail, see our Self-Employment and Loans page.
Use only official places. A government ITI, an RSETI run by a bank, a training centre listed on Skill India Digital and a company on the Apprenticeship India portal are all official routes. Before you join a private centre, check its name on the portal.
For fees, batches and how to apply, please use the official links in the Courses section above. Before you join, ask the centre for a written list of what is free.
Five questions to ask the training centre:
Many courses are free for people who meet the entry rule. What is free differs by scheme. Ask the centre to write down what is covered.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
Yes, many schemes have one. RSETI usually takes people aged 18 to 45. DDU-GKY is meant for rural youth aged about 15 to 35. Please read the rule on the official page.
Please ask your unit first. Service rules apply while you serve. Your in-service skill training, NIOS and IGNOU routes are explained by your unit or education officer.
An ITI trade course is longer and ends with a trade test. A PMKVY short term course is shorter and ends with an assessment and a certificate.
Yes. An apprentice gets a stipend from the employer. Under NAPS the Government of India shares part of the stipend with the employer.
NSQF is the national scale for skills. It runs from 1 to 10, and a higher number means harder work. Each NQR course page shows its level.
An RSETI helps its trainees reach a bank. For other courses, a bank decides. See our Self-Employment and Loans page.
Open skillindiadigital.gov.in to find batches and nqr.gov.in to check a course. Each page shows who can join, the hours and who gives the certificate.

Self-employment means you run your own small work instead of working for a salary. It can be a repair shop, a service business, a small farm business or a trading shop. Most people need some money to start. A loan is money from a bank that you must pay back. A subsidy is help from the government that you do not pay back, and it is usually paid on top of a bank loan.
This page explains the main government schemes, how an Agniveer can plan the first steps and what to ask the bank. It does not promise that any loan will be approved. The bank decides on every loan.
Scheme limits and rules change. Read them on the official page before you apply.
This path suits people who are ready to take a risk, keep accounts and deal with customers. You need a clear plan and the habit of saving. Entry rules differ by scheme, so please read the rule on the official page of the scheme you choose.
Some schemes are open to any Indian citizen with a small business plan. Others are for special groups. For example, Stand-Up India is only for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and women entrepreneurs. Please do not plan around a scheme before you read who it is for.
Self-employment is not for everyone. A loan must be repaid even when sales are low. Many people start by working for an employer to learn the trade, and start their own work later. This is plain advice, not an official rule.
There are six main things to know. Tap any one to read more.
MUDRA loans are for small, non-farm businesses in manufacturing, trading and services. They have four sizes: Shishu up to Rs. 50,000, Kishor above Rs. 50,000 and up to Rs. 5 lakh, Tarun above Rs. 5 lakh and up to Rs. 10 lakh, and Tarun Plus above Rs. 10 lakh and up to Rs. 20 lakh. Tarun Plus was added in October 2024, and it is only for people who took and repaid a Tarun loan before.
The Government of India describes these loans as collateral-free. You do not apply to MUDRA itself. You apply to a bank or a lending institution. Interest rates differ by lender, so please ask the bank.
PMEGP is run by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) under the Ministry of MSME. It helps you start a new unit. A bank gives the loan, and the government pays a subsidy on the project cost. The subsidy ranges from 15% to 35% of the project cost. For general applicants it is 15% in towns and cities and 25% in rural areas. For special categories it is 25% in towns and cities and 35% in rural areas. Official pages list Ex-Servicemen among the special categories, along with SC, ST, women and some other groups. The pages we checked do not say whether an Agniveer counts as an ex-serviceman for this purpose, so please ask KVIC or the bank in writing before you count on the higher rate.
The highest project cost is Rs. 50 lakh for manufacturing and Rs. 20 lakh for services. A class 8 pass is needed for projects above Rs. 10 lakh in manufacturing and above Rs. 5 lakh in services. You must be above 18 years of age, and there is no income limit. Existing units that already took a subsidy under another scheme are not eligible.
This scheme helps Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and women entrepreneurs start a first-time (greenfield) business. Bank loans range from Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 1 crore. At least one such borrower per bank branch is the target. You apply through the Stand-Up India portal or the district Lead District Manager. A man must belong to the SC or ST group, while a woman can apply from any group. If you are not in these groups, this scheme is not for you. Please check the portal for the current status of the scheme.
The Agnipath scheme terms say that each Agniveer gets two options to receive the Seva Nidhi package. The terms say one aim is to provide financial loans for self-employment or entrepreneurship through a bank guarantee, and the other aim is to meet immediate expenses on exit. Please read the terms in your own enrolment papers, and ask the bank in writing how the guarantee works, how much of your Seva Nidhi is held, and what happens if the business fails.
Udyam Registration is the government's online registration for micro, small and medium businesses. It is free on the official portal. Banks and schemes often ask for it. Register only through the official site.
A bank looks at your skill as well as your plan. RSETI certificates are accepted by banks when they consider loans for RSETI trainees. See our Free Govt Training page for free courses that prepare you to run a business.
Self-employment has no single course. Instead, the table lists the main schemes and the official page for each. Open the official page and read the limits, the rules and who can apply. Training courses are on the National Qualifications Register and in our Free Govt Training page.

Fees, interest and how to apply: we do not list interest rates, fees or dates, because every bank has its own and they change often. We also do not promise any loan amount. Please use the official links below and ask the bank.
Papers a bank may ask for: banks differ, so ask for the list in writing. Common papers are an ID, an address proof, a short project report, your bank statements, your Udyam registration, your training certificate and a price quote for the machines or stock you plan to buy.
Valid dates: a scheme can end, change or restart. Please check on the official page that the scheme is open before you plan around it.
A loan lets you buy tools, stock or a small shop space before you have the income. A subsidy lowers the amount you have to fund yourself. A loan from a bank also builds a repayment record. A good record helps when you need a bigger loan later. The reverse is also true. A missed payment can make it harder to borrow again.
For you as an Agniveer: the Government of India Cabinet release of 2022 says that on completing four years, an Agniveer is paid a one-time Seva Nidhi package, and that it is free of income tax. The Seva Nidhi may be your own start-up money. You can read the release at pmindia.gov.in. Please keep part of your Seva Nidhi as a safety reserve, and do not put all of it into one business. This is plain advice, not an official rule.
Please ask each bank and scheme office in writing whether your Agniveer service counts for any special category or any special offer for Agniveers.
This is a common path. Real steps depend on your business and your bank.
Ideas that fit many Agniveers are a repair shop, an electrical or fitting service, a computer or form-filling centre, and farm-linked work such as dairy or food processing. Choose a work that you know and that people near you need.
Some work needs a licence. Examples are guard services, food work and health work. Please read the official rules and ask an expert before you plan these.
Do not borrow more than you can repay. Compare your monthly earning with the monthly loan payment before you sign. For training before you start, see our Free Govt Training page.
Use only official places. A public sector bank branch, your District Industries Centre (DIC), a KVIC or KVIB office, the Lead District Manager of your district, an RSETI and the official scheme portals can all help. Your Zila Sainik Board or Sainik Welfare office may also guide you. Please ask them whether they help Agniveers.
For limits, rules and how to apply, please use the official links in the Courses section above.
Five questions to ask the bank:
MUDRA is open to Indian citizens who run or plan a small income-earning business. The bank decides on each loan. Your plan, your skill and your repayment ability matter.
No. Your branch in service is not an entry rule. What decides whether you can join is the entry rule of the course, which you can read on its official page. If you worked with related equipment, the early lessons may feel familiar, but if you did not, you can still learn this work with some extra effort.
MUDRA loans are described by the government as collateral-free. A bank may still check your plan, your papers and your record. Ask the bank in writing what it needs.
No. The Seva Nidhi is a savings package paid at the end of service. The scheme terms give two payout options, and one is aimed at loans for self-employment through a bank guarantee. Read your terms and ask the bank how it works.
PMEGP adds a government subsidy on a bank loan and is for new units. MUDRA is a collateral-free loan for new or running small businesses. Compare both on the official pages and ask a bank or the DIC.
Not always by rule. A bank still looks at your skill. A free course or an RSETI course helps show that you know the work.
It is a short plan. It says what you will make or sell, what it costs, how much you will earn and how much loan you need. Banks ask for it for bigger loans.
Talk to your bank early, and do not hide a missed payment. Borrow only what you can repay. Keep part of your Seva Nidhi as a reserve.
