Rajasthan sends a large number of young people into the armed forces. So the Rajasthan Agniveer reservation matters to many families. But if you search online, you will find different percentages on different sites. This guide separates what is confirmed from what is only repeated.

What Rajasthan announced in 2024

Around Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26 July 2024, the Rajasthan Chief Minister announced that the state would give reservation to Agniveers who finish their term. A statement the next day listed the main areas: the state police, jail guards and forest guards. Other states made similar announcements in the same days, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

The announcement was a promise to act. It was not itself the rule. A state has to amend its recruitment rules before a quota can be used in a live notice.

The Rajasthan Agniveer reservation percentage: the honest answer

Here is where I must be careful. I searched for an official Rajasthan notification that fixes the percentage. I did not find one. Some Hindi news sites and exam portals give 10 per cent for police, jail and forest posts. Others describe it as “proposed”. These are not official documents.

So the status of the Rajasthan Agniveer reservation percentage, as far as I could verify, is this:

  • The announcement in July 2024 is confirmed by press reports.
  • The posts named were police, jail guard and forest guard.
  • A final notified percentage is not confirmed by an official source I could open.
  • Age relaxation and physical test rules for Agniveers in Rajasthan are not confirmed either.

Older versions of this article gave a share of 12.5 per cent for ex-servicemen in Rajasthan Police and a count of 8,148 vacancies in 2025. I could not verify either figure, so I removed them. Please do not quote them.

What the central government has confirmed

While the state rule is unclear, the central picture is firm. On 21 July 2026, the Home Ministry told Parliament that central armed police forces and Assam Rifles reserve 50 per cent of Constable (GD) and Rifleman posts for ex-Agniveers. The age relaxation is 3 years, and 5 years for the first batch. Ex-Agniveers are exempt from the physical standard test, the physical efficiency test and the written examination (PIB release).

The same reply says the first batch of Agniveers had not yet finished its term. So no ex-Agniveer has used these benefits at scale yet. For a Rajasthan candidate, the central route may be both larger and clearer than the Rajasthan Agniveer reservation today.

What to do now

  1. Keep your discharge papers safe and scanned.
  2. Follow the Rajasthan Police recruitment pages and the state recruitment board.
  3. Search every new notice for the word “Agniveer”.
  4. Apply to central forces at the same time, because that route is confirmed.
  5. Ignore any site that gives a Rajasthan percentage without showing a notice.

The rule of thumb is simple. A number belongs in your plan only if you can point to a government paper that carries it. Until Rajasthan publishes one, the Rajasthan Agniveer reservation is a direction, not a figure.

A worked example for a Rajasthan family

Think of a young man from Sikar who joins as an Agniveer at 18. He leaves at 22. In his home district, many neighbours serve in the forces, so he hears every kind of rumour about a state quota. Some say 10 per cent. Some say 20. Which should he trust? None, until a notice shows it.

What should he do in the meantime? He should keep his body fit, since police tests are physical. He should finish his studies, because a graduate has more doors open. And he should apply wherever a confirmed quota exists. That is the safest way to treat the Rajasthan Agniveer reservation while it stays unconfirmed.

There is another benefit to waiting calmly. Rules often get better, not worse, once they are notified. If Rajasthan matches Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh at 20 per cent, early planners will be ready. If it stays lower, they still have the central route. Either way, preparation is never wasted.

Why states are slow to publish

It helps to know why. A state must change its service rules for each post. Police, jail and forest each have their own rules. The law department checks the draft. The cabinet approves it. Then it is notified. Each step takes time, and the first Agniveer batch has not even left service yet. So states have little pressure to hurry.

Odisha showed that it can be done in about ten weeks. Madhya Pradesh took two years from announcement to a cabinet figure. Rajasthan may sit anywhere in that range. Meanwhile, keep tracking the Rajasthan Agniveer reservation in our state-wise police reservation table and check our CAPF guide for the confirmed central option.

One last point on the Rajasthan Agniveer reservation. If a recruiter or coaching centre quotes you a percentage, ask them for the notification number and date. A real rule has both. If they cannot give them, wait for the official notice before you change any plan.
